In light of the MeWe import tool just announced, I'm curious if this changes anyone's thinking re: MeWe being a Nazi/alt-right/deplorables communications and mobilization hub? If this tool pulls in great numbers of unsuspecting G+ refugees - and MeWe gets more attention in the tech press - anyway to use that attention to shame Mewe for providing nourishment and shelter for Nazis and alt-right terrorists? I'm guessing the last thing Mark Weaslestein wants if a bunch of negative press and news of thousands of people leaving. I have an account so that I can right them and tell them why I'm deleting my account (hint: zero effort to curb [read that how you want] Nazis and extreme right bigots and supremacists.) At the same time (when I delete my account), I plan on letting Engadget et cetera know why I quit Mewe - providing source materials already collected (thx Edward Morbius for the Trip Report and others for their reporting - although I'll have to put in some work t...

This is a post about MeWe and my experience with hate speech on an unofficial BBC feed.

This is a post about MeWe and my experience with hate speech on an unofficial BBC feed. The moderating tools don't allow for the reporting of individual comments so I had to report the individual. I haven't received any feedback from MeWe yet. This isn't surprising - if anything I'm surprised I haven't encountered such file speech earlier. I find it very telling that MeWe doesn't have a reporting category for harassment/hate speech Originally shared by Thom Thomas These are the comments I encountered on the very first BBC article post I pulled up. There is no way to report specific comments so I reported the user with a screen grab. This is what I wrote in the additional comments field: Racist hate speech. if this kind of behavior is tolerated on MeWe, I'll be sharing with my followers on other social media outlets and will close down my MeWe account. Do you really want MeWe to be a cesspool of ethnostate nationalist and Nazis because tens of thousands of de...

iSurf Social (home)

I love knowing that a lot of my G+ friends can be located over on Pluspora. I have a place in my heart for Pluspora despite the feelings I have regarding Diaspora (it's complicated). I've been test driving Friendica. There's a lot to like. At this moment, the only ding I can come up with is that markdown isn't part of posting/comments/profile editor. If you are interested in having a look around, I'm amongst other G+ refugees here https://social.isurf.ca thom@social.isurf.ca https://social.isurf.ca

The Ploos Community Chat is a Slack workspace set up by Google+ refugees for Google+ refugees.

Originally shared by Thom Thomas The Ploos Community Chat is a Slack workspace set up by Google+ refugees for Google+ refugees. Access is relatively open but is by invitation only given the moderation paradigm inherent to Slack as a “workspace” oriented platform. For the invitation link, let me know via Google+ or via diaspora thomthomas@pluspora.com Other G+ refugees and pluspora podders have the invitation link and can share it. Ask around. The Ploos Community Chat was set up with the following in mind: 1.) Many see Slack as a complement to other solutions, not necessarily a solution unto itself. 2.) To be a place for people to test drive Slack’s functionality and to ascertain what it can add to a community. 3.) To be a place where we can have real time (and time shifted) conversations with G+ friends in a more ephemeral manner that brings with it a more instant gratification 4.) To have fun trying out a new way to interact with our G+ friends. 5.) To talk in real time about platfor...
