Q&A regarding MeWe features By Mark Weinstein on G+ (edited for clarity):

Q&A regarding MeWe features By Mark Weinstein on G+ (edited for clarity): +Ash UK Here are your answers, thanks for asking: Q: Currently shared resources on groups (i.e. files) seem to only be accessible via desk top. Will there be plans to offer access via the app? A: These are available on the apps already. Just click on the group info (i) button in the top right of the group and you can see files and all shared resources of the group. Q: Will you be adding the ability to add sections to groups? I know the current work around is to use hashtag filters but it seems to be messy. A: At this time we have not plan to add sections to groups. We do plan on enhancing hashtags to be more elegant and easy to use. Q: Is there ability for Admins to limit hashtags for use solely by the admin team? A: Not at this time. It is a feature we are considering. Q: Profiles - are there plans to allow multiple profiles under one account? A: Already available - MeWe allows members to have different prof...

Update from Jason Hardy at MeWe:

Update from Jason Hardy at MeWe: “I'd like to welcome and give a shout out to all the Google+ users that are migrating over to MeWe! We want to make you feel at home and I know you have some questions about features. Here's a quick update on upcoming features. MeWe Pages - These will go live later this month! This will allow you to create business and fan pages on MeWe where you can make open posts for all of MeWe to see and share. Public Posts - We're already working on these and they will go live soon. On each of your timeline posts you'll get to decide if you want it so just your contacts can see the post or if you want everyone on MeWe to be able to see the post. Sharing - I know right now it works more like a copy than a share. 😱 When public posts roll out, sharing will be fixed so it gives credit to the original poster. I'm sure you have a lot more questions so if you'd like to ask them to me live, I'll be talking with Uncle Matt tonight at 4:00 pm PS...

An analogy just came to my mind:

An analogy just came to my mind: diaspora et al. works pretty much as an RSS feed aggregator with benefits. The only difference would be that one can also post items that, in turn, will be aggregated by other RSS readers who have subscribed to the same tag. And, that one can leave a comment under the aggregated items. Huh! 🤔

Objections to diaspora et. al.

Objections to diaspora et. al. [Updated on 2018-10-21] Although diaspora* is a wonderful platform, it lacks a lot of tools and features for a Philosophy community such as mine. For one, there is no community or group one can join. Other issues, so far that I’ve noticed: 1- no editing function for posts or comments 2- no way to moderate anything anywhere 3- no way to methodically eliminate spams from a topic's stream 4- no chat feature that I could find anywhere 5- no way to search anything or any hashtag on other pods/nodes 6- no matter what hashtag you choose, anyone can use it to spam everyone who is following it 7- no way to filter out the unwanted hashtags without also filtering out relevant contents that happened to carry irrelevant hashtags that you also are following 8- still depends on self-hosted servers. Once the maintainer gives up, the whole node/pod will go up in smokes 9- if a self-hosted pod is needed, a person needs to install and maintain it, hence a lot of server-...
