Good Bye

Originally shared by Jessica Meyer Good Bye Hi, plussers! It is very sad that we have to say good bye here, it's still hard to believe Google killed Google+, a shame! How can #Google lose something with such potential.. again! It seems they need better people working for them. It was wonderful while it lasted.. specially at the beginning when we had more tools available. Let's keep in touch ok? I have had a great time here, with amazing circlers, and would love to see you all again! At the moment I'm more active on #Minds, but I've also created an account on #YouMe today to try it out, and I also have #Twitter. Add me! Farewell.. https://www.minds.com/JessicaMeyer https://www.youme.social/-JessicaMeyer https://twitter.com/jessy_meyer https://www.minds.com/JessicaMeyer

Ended up deleting #MeWe and #Minds.

Ended up deleting #MeWe and #Minds. None of those "alternative" social media environments are my cup of tea, obviously. I'll accept G+'s demise - even deleting my blogger I'm using since 2009. I have about.me/keremgo as my front page & probably build a simple blog on Wix when I have time. Take care everyone and thank you for your amazing contributions in this group. #FarewellG+ http://about.me/keremgo

Where to go after Google+

Originally shared by Jessica Meyer Where to go after Google+ After trying out #Minds and #MeWe for about a week I'm definitely enjoying #Minds more. I can already read my feed there to receive the most important news about what's going on in #science and #technology. It's still not as complete as here, but there's lots of good stuff, with the plus side that there's less junk posts as well. I guess people just have to know who to follow ;) MeWe is more like Facebook, you need to follow each other to see the posts, there's still no public posting, not even inside the platform (although they say it's coming). I've already received spam "friendship" request at MeWe and I also don't enjoy that they officially use faul words in their description and emails. At least at the moment Minds is much better and more interesting in my opinion. I'm trying to be active there daily, so check me out: www.minds.com/JessicaMeyer I'm finding it a great...

10 Best Alternatives to Facebook: This article fails to mention that MeWe charges monthly fees for storage exceeding 8 gigs and there's also a fee-based chat. Click the Cloud icon at the top of your MeWe page to see the monthly fees. If you post a lot of images and gifs, you might hit the 8 gigs limit over time. I was told by Martina Neumayer that to avoid those limits just use some external storage which allows you direct linking to other services. For example, Mega has something like that. Static images will display through links on MeWe. They will have a preview in the post. If someone wants to have full resolution, then they need to click on it and will be redirected to the source image. A bit different is with the animations (anim gifs). Some of them are displayed, some only with previews and need to click to play, and some will be as links. I think this depends directly on the gif file. MeWe is a markdown-based page, that means you can use all markdown language tags, opti...

New Minds Users: Minds is not Facebook, My experience

New Minds Users: Minds is not Facebook, My experience MOONLIT🌙MONKEY DEC 2, 2018 Since coming to Minds.com, I’ve realized a lot of things about the place. It’s hard to sum it all up. But if I did, the word that would come to mind is: Community Minds is a community where most other social media is not. Vibrant Here, we have a collection of political dissidents, Google plus refugees, and journalists who speak a truth a bit too hard hitting for the vanilla blandness of the politically correct landscape. We have artists, photographers, writers, and musicians who value freedom of expression. We have crypto enthusiasts, anarchists, socialists, national socialists, centrists, western chauvinists, liberals, conservatives and every shade of wrong-thinker. We have occultists, new agers, conspiracy theorists, Christians, Hindus, Buddhists, atheists, and mystics. We have the social media curious and more. We have free thinking. A diversity of thought. In short, there’s a lot of very differently t...

Why Epik welcomed Gab.com

Why Epik welcomed Gab.com By Rob Monster, November 3, 2018 Domain Investing, Domain Law, Domain Name Asset Management The domain Gab.com has landed at Epik. This post will summarize why Epik welcomed Gab.com. It will also address why I believe the operators of the site have the right to be online. De-Platforming is Digital Censorship. Blacklisting is Digital Shunning. For those not familiar with the case, Gab.com’s ability to operate was abruptly terminated by Godaddy, among other vendors, who deemed Gab to have violated their terms of service. This de-platforming of Gab generated much discussion in the mainstream technology press. It also prompted a lively discussion in the professional domain name community, including at the popular discussion board NamePros. As the news broke, and as some elements in the mainstream media rendered their judgement, I embarked on my own search for truth. Along the way, I did have an opportunity to meet with the Founder of Gab, Andrew Torba, an entrepr...

The founder of Minds.com, Bill Ottoman, explains the genesis of his site, censorship (and the whack-a-mole outcome), free speech, hate speech, challenges facing social media today, comparison between Minds and other social media sites, and the new framework of peer-to-peer (Web 3) to avoid government censorship. Even if you are not into Minds.com, this discussion will help make you aware of the various environments the social media sites create and their varied solutions to the challenges that face all social media. From the link below: One of the questions for Bill Ottman, the Co-Founder and CEO of Minds: Do you have any advice to share with other entrepreneurs with regards to growing a brand or business? Build something that puts equal attention into your philosophy and principles (eg transparency, privacy, free speech) while simultaneously hitting the human nature nerve (eg. incentives rewards, viral reach). Keep the branding clean and open for evolution. We have made a few small pivots and that wouldn’t be possible without a brand/domain that was too limited in language. Control your tools. Use as much open source software as possible and don’t cave to the convenience temptation for aspects of the product that matter. For instance, everyone who used Facebook login on their apps just decimated their user’s privacy in the recent hack of 50m accounts. Reliance on major tech companies for your infrastructure is high-risk. October 30, 2018 https://masur.com/lawtalk/bill-ottman-co-founder-ceo-of-m...

The uncensored, free speech social media platform known as Minds.com has adopted a bill of rights.

The uncensored, free speech social media platform known as Minds.com has adopted a bill of rights. Minds is an alternative site to Google+ that provides a similar experience but is open source. Developers are working on adding features. Your real name is not required to open a Minds account. Only an email address is required. Minds is officially adopting the Manila Principles On Intermediary Liability, a digital bill of rights, outlined by the Electronic Frontier Foundation and other leading digital rights organizations. The principles have been endorsed by nearly 300 leading press freedom and technology policy organizations and individuals. They act as a guideline for protecting freedom of expression and create an open environment for innovation. It is our hope to create a network effect of companies and organizations adopting the principles to further Internet freedom globally. The Manila Principles On Intermediary Liability 1. Intermediaries should be shielded from liability for...

For those who care about free speech, I would recommend moving over to #minds. Great platform in terms of functionality, and on top of that, your contributions provide you with Ethereum tokens, so you can basically get paid for participating in this growing social media site. https://www.minds.com/register?referrer=SomeCanadian https://www.minds.com/register?referrer=SomeCanadian

I'm building a presence on Minds at https://www.minds.com/CultureKat as my Google+ alternative site...still hoping Google+ doesn't sunset. Below is an example of how you can select and add custom hashtags to personalize your Minds newsfeed (like Home in Google+) so you see just what you want to see. Personalize your Minds Newsfeed by selecting hashtags of interests you'd like to see. Write whatever hashtag you'd like to use and see in the blank box and then click on the tiny arrow to add it to the list. Use hashtags in all your posts on Minds. #Minds #ExampleCustomizeMinds #googlePlus #GooglePlusAlternative

I am using Minds because it gives an experience very much like Google+.

I am using Minds because it gives an experience very much like Google+. Here's information on the use of hashtags in Minds. Minds does not require you use your real name when creating an account. My first name is Culture and my second name is Kat. Then I only needed to provide an email. I can share my posts with Twitter and Facebook. From jack Minds (Help & Support) OCT 18, 2018, 1:37:20 PM Please read this blog for some information on the new updates to Minds. The new hashtag system will make it much easier to discover content based on your interests, and it will allow you to filter your "top" feeds by hashtags. This will be a major improvement for helping to organize content, groups and channels and we plan on leveraging these tags in the future for better Boost targeting and more. The new rate limit system is a direct response to the many complaints we have received about spam channels who are abusing the site's features for personal gain. This is just the f...

I've been playing with #Minds since I saw it mentioned here.

I've been playing with #Minds since I saw it mentioned here. Kinda like it, nice feel to it though still a bit strange in places in terms of interface etc. I like that it's got a similar edge to Patreon where people can support creators by "wiring" them crypto currency to view premium content. And also that likes and shares mean something more than an ego boost as they all as to your own "tokens" which can be converted into crypto money to boost your posts! It's nice to have a network that pays YOU instead of the other way around. Anyway, if you're on there, feel free to subscribe to me: https://www.minds.com/mrlewk https://www.minds.com/mrlewk

I decided to try http://www.Minds.com as a replacement for Google+.

I decided to try http://www.Minds.com as a replacement for Google+. To my surprise I found a very similar Google+ experience on Minds. I don't care about earning money for content, so I am ignoring that and using Minds like I would Google+. I still set up my Minds wallet because it seemed to be a requirement. I can't imagine social media without gifs...it's my passion. Minds accepts my gifs which tend to be large in size. Pluspora did not. Pluspora also abbreviated the posts so you had to click on 'Show More' to see the whole post. Minds does not do that. Minds allow you to edit your post. Pluspora did not. It's more like Google+. At Minds, you set up your profile (Channel). As I understand it, you won't see your friends' posts unless you subscribe to their channel. They will need to subscribe to your channel too. Put hashtags in your post for wider distribution in searches. #GooglePlusReplacement #Minds #SocialMedia
