I joined Google Plus at its inception with the hope that it would be a quieter and more intelligent platform than Facebook. Unfortunately it never achieved the necessary critical mass, and thus hasn’t really served the intended purpose for me. However, I have routinely curated my more interesting Facebook posts and added them to my G+ feed where they can be easily linked and viewed by regular people who don’t have Facebook credentials, or for other reasons don’t want to engage with Facebook. I have family members and distant friends that keep track of my doings through Google Plus, but they will no longer have that option after the shutdown. That’s a shame. I’d like another place where I can simply re-post curated Facebook material that can be viewed without a credential wall, and without corporate tracking and ads.
