G+ has been a great place to visit for nearly a decade.

G+ has been a great place to visit for nearly a decade. As we fly apart in all directions, may we find each another again in better times. Goodbyte to all! Final #signalflare (no changes from before). Originally shared by Derek Lichter Other social network presence(s): * Friendica: ozdreaming@social.isurf.ca * Reddit: ozdreaming I will update this as I try other services. My hope is to set up a Hubzilla node at home, but that will take a longer block of time than I have handy now. (I do have a Facebook account -- I never log in, but if you message me I will get the notification.) #signalflare #GooglePlusExodus #Plexodus #GooglePlusMigration #GPlusExodus #GPlusMigration

I just found out MeWe just made Pages available.

I just found out MeWe just made Pages available. So I quickly snapped up pages for Gazing Skyward TV, Trinity Aviation Solutions and The Flying Cloud. Come on over and give them a follow if you are interested in aviation. I am feeling pretty confident MeWe is going to be my new platform of choice. Gazing Skyward TV https://mewe.com/p/gazingskywardtv Trinity Aviation Solutions https://mewe.com/p/trinityaviationsolutions The Flying Cloud https://mewe.com/p/theflyingcloud Also don't forget to follow my profile. https://mewe.com/i/johnchvatal If you are over there on MeWe, post links to your profiles in the comments. I want to connect with people who love aviation and are in the field of WordPress web development. I also have an interest in online privacy. So I may be posting about that over there in the future... #avgeek #MeWe #GooglePlusMigration

The uncensored, free speech social media platform known as Minds.com has adopted a bill of rights.

The uncensored, free speech social media platform known as Minds.com has adopted a bill of rights. Minds is an alternative site to Google+ that provides a similar experience but is open source. Developers are working on adding features. Your real name is not required to open a Minds account. Only an email address is required. Minds is officially adopting the Manila Principles On Intermediary Liability, a digital bill of rights, outlined by the Electronic Frontier Foundation and other leading digital rights organizations. The principles have been endorsed by nearly 300 leading press freedom and technology policy organizations and individuals. They act as a guideline for protecting freedom of expression and create an open environment for innovation. It is our hope to create a network effect of companies and organizations adopting the principles to further Internet freedom globally. The Manila Principles On Intermediary Liability 1. Intermediaries should be shielded from liability for...

I am using Minds because it gives an experience very much like Google+. Here's information on the use of hashtags in Minds. Minds does not require you use your real name when creating an account. My first name is Culture and my second name is Kat. Then I only needed to provide an email. I can share my posts with Twitter and Facebook. From jack Minds (Help & Support) OCT 18, 2018, 1:37:20 PM Please read this blog for some information on the new updates to Minds. The new hashtag system will make it much easier to discover content based on your interests, and it will allow you to filter your "top" feeds by hashtags. This will be a major improvement for helping to organize content, groups and channels and we plan on leveraging these tags in the future for better Boost targeting and more. The new rate limit system is a direct response to the many complaints we have received about spam channels who are abusing the site's features for personal gain. This is just the f...

Here's a review... Minds.com: The social network that pays you to be social using cryptocurrency, oh, and it's open source. Published on October 13, 2018 Jason Mayes Having used the site for a week, this blog post summarizes my thoughts so far for Minds.com, an open sourced, and crypto backed social network that pays you to be social. Wonderful. Lets go! I don't often post about social networks, actually if you look back through my posts, I have never gone out of my way to recommend one in a dedicated post - until now. Needless to say - I'm excited about this one. In the light of Google+ shutting down, I have taken to search the seas to see what exists that may be a good alternative investment of my time to fill that void in my life once it goes (I spent a lot of time and effort growing my network on that site). This is a little long but I wanted to leave a thorough review to give people options to consider. https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/mindscom-social-network-pays-yo...

Some field reports for the mill

Some field reports for the mill Originally shared by Amanda Park So far my Instagram and Facebook have grown and I'm using those more. MeWe is getting better but still not that many there. Having some of my favourite groups reformed there is a big boon though. Pluspora has almost grown too much and I find it hard to use mobile even with dandelion. I do enjoy the format when I have time to filter through or use at home on a full desktop. However its lack of control over public engagement and no block is a worry for its longevity of usefulness or continued growth for my own circles. None are replacing what I have here. Still time. Looking out for what's being discussed or where people show up. But that's my current thoughts. #googleplusmigration

Google+ sunsets in August 2019.

Google+ sunsets in August 2019. Many Google+ers have gone to MeWe. You might be considering it too. Here's a MeWe sample account page. MeWe charges monthly for storage over 8GB. MeWe reminds me of Facebook. It has a feature that allows you to create private groups. If you post a lot of content, to remain a free MeWe user you'll have to delete content before it reaches 8GB of storage or pay a monthly storage fee (see attachment on fees). #GooglePlusMigration #MeWe #GooglePlusAlternative #Alternative #SocialMedia

From the Google blog link below it seems that during the next ten months, Google+ will be providing us with additional information including ways we can download and migrate our Google+ data! '...The review did highlight the significant challenges in creating and maintaining a successful Google+ that meets consumers’ expectations. Given these challenges and the very low usage of the consumer version of Google+, we decided to sunset the consumer version of Google+. To give people a full opportunity to transition, we will implement this wind-down over a 10-month period, slated for completion by the end of next August. Over the coming months, we will provide consumers with additional information, including ways they can download and migrate their data.'
