I have developed CSS styles to provide multi-column streams for Diaspora, Mastodon, Hubzilla, and Tumblr.

I have developed CSS styles to provide multi-column streams for Diaspora, Mastodon, Hubzilla, and Tumblr. It's possible that the Hubzilla version will work on Friendica with little or no modification. Anyone want to try it? Originally shared by Isaac Kuo G+ style Multi-Column Streams in pluspora, Mastodon, Hubzilla, and Tumblr I've put together CSS styles which provide multi-column Streams in various social media platforms. This has a huge effect on browsing speed. To use them, you: 1) Download Stylus plugin (Chrome, Firefox or Opera): https://add0n.com/stylus.html 2) Install desired Multi-Column style from here: https://userstyles.org/users/773238 Enjoy! #diaspora #mastodon #hubzilla #tumblr #pluspora #tips #tip (Putting them all here in one convenient place.)

New simplified instructions and new enhancements (such as multi-column comments)

New simplified instructions and new enhancements (such as multi-column comments) Originally shared by Isaac Kuo Multi-column Stream and Comments in Diaspora https://userstyles.org/styles/168773/3-column-diaspora Multi-column stream and comments boost browsing speed and look better on wide screens. This plugin/style gives you a multi-column stream, albeit the tiling is a bit crude. The enhancements are: TALLER NOTIFICATIONS DROPDOWN (Doc Edward Morbius) EXPAND ALL POSTS (Gible Fog) TRIPLE COLUMN STREAM (Filip H.F. "FiXato" Slagter) DOUBLE COLUMN COMMENTS (Isaac Ji Kuo) To install: 1) Install Stylus plugin for Chrome, Firefox, or Opera. see download links here: https://add0n.com/stylus.html 2) Install the "3 Column Diaspora" style from here: https://userstyles.org/styles/168773/3-column-diaspora 3) Optional: If you want to delete some enhancements or tweak columns/widths, edit the style (under S icon, select "Manage") If you aren't using the pluspora.com...

Multi-column Stream in diaspora!

Originally shared by Isaac Kuo Multi-column Stream in diaspora! One thing I like about Google+ is the multi-column stream view. It means I can browse articles more quickly than with a single column view, with less scrolling effort. Conversely, it means my followers can browse articles more quickly, so more people see my posts. It's great! More engagement, more enjoyment, less time spent. Diaspora has many features I like, being similar to early G+. But it has just a single column stream view...until now! It turns out that adding a small bit of CSS code gives a crude multi-column stream view. It's not neat Masonry tiling, with weird gaps. But it's good enough for me. The steps to do this are: 1) Use Chrome or Chromium 2) Install the Stylus plugin (search for "stylus chrome") 3) Go to pluspora.com (or whatever diaspora pod you're on) 4) Click on the “S” plugin icon in the upper right; select Write Style for pluspora.com 5) Paste the code: ``` #main-stream .stre...

Following Tags in Friendica

Originally shared by Shelenn Ayres Following Tags in Friendica Tonight I made a new contact who shares a love of mine: modeling in 3D. I saw they tagged a post with the hashtag #Blender so I want to follow that hashtag. In the image, you will see what I entered in the global search box and the result. There are actually many other posts underneath their post with the #Blender hashtag in them. I like this result so I click the plus icon under my profile pic to follow that hashtag! #Friendica #tips #tutorials

Categories vs Hashtags in Friendica

Originally shared by Shelenn Ayres Categories vs Hashtags in Friendica I mentioned using hashtags in another post using the tag cloud. Friendica also has categories you can use as well. This is quite useful in community forum posts to categorize types of posts. How do you find them and what do they look like? The image on the left shows them just above the tag cloud in my status page or wall (found when I click the home icon). Notice the ones without the # in front of the words? Those were created when I gave at least one post a category when it was created. The image on the right shows the different colors for a hashtag versus a category. I will illustrate the usage with a community forum on another post. :) #Friendica #tips #tutorials
