Administrivia: We may set G+MM fully Hold for Review That's going to depend on how traffic is today. There's information we'd like to be able to get out to people. I know that farewells are in the air, but it really clouds up the channel, and this is a working community. I hate to be a hard-ass[1] but I've removed a bunch of posts that weren't particularly topical (and yes, left a few). The current pinned post is for farewells, please use it for that. Hold for Review (HfR) is a Community status that means moderators have to specifically approve posts. A downside is that you have no idea your post is in held status , which is among the reasons we've not applied it on everyone . Things you can (and should) be doing 1. Pin a #signalflare post to your G+ profile with forwarding URLs at the top of the post. Internet Archive grabs of your profile page will show where you're going. 2. Add forwarding information to your ABOUT page as well. 3. Save your own page to the Internet Archive. You can use the DuckDuckGo "!wayback" bang search, or replace " " here with your G+ profile page : https://web.archive.org/save/ 4. Save any other content you want to preserve at the archive. If you can make a list of URLs you can submit those with a command-line tool on Mac, Linux, BSD, and even Windows machines. 5. Freshen up your own Friends+Me Google+ Exporter archive. https://gplus-exporter.friendsplus.me/ 6. Google+ has just started throwing 500 errors solid at ~12:37 April 1, 2019 US/PacificPlanning & Scheduling I got an error submitting a comment to a post, then a CAPTCHA, then a 500. The Archive Team on IRC noted this at 12:37 US/Pacific time. The Google+ Homepage is throwing 500 errors, with a momentary view of a shutdown "butterbar". I'm suspecting this is not intentional, but it's not clear yet. I'll update as information is available. ... and as of 12:52 US/Pacific, the site's responding again. Finalize (or start!!!) your archives now!!! Google's been telling folks to start their final archives by March 31. It's now April 1 for most of you. For Google Data Takeout Go to: https://takeout.google.com/settings/takeout/custom/circles,plus_communities,plus_one,plus_pages,profile,stream For EACH item, click on the data format specifier (it will read "HTML" in most cases) and set that to "JSON" wherever possible . You've got to to this within each data category ("product" in Google's terminology), sometimes multiple times (for Streams and Profile). Your Streams data is the most important. If you have one or more Google Pages you'll need to log into that account separately both to *request and to download your archive(s). Next select the file format and file chunk size . You can leave both of these alone, though Mac, Linux, and BSD users might prefer tarfiles "tgz" for easier manipulation of the archive. If you don...

I've archived all publicly visible #signalflare posts on Google+ Contact Information Using Webrecorder (see earlier post), I've saved a ~30 MB WARC Web ARChive of all publicly visible posts containing a #signalflare hashtag. This covers about the past four weeks, going back to late February, 2019. I plan on mining this for forwarding and contact information. I don't have a post or user count for this yet but will update this post as I analyse the file. And I can make the archive available to others on request. Web Archival using Webrecorder Webrecorder is a tool I've just learned about in the past week, and only just tried in the past hour. It is a Web-based tool for recording and downloading online content, and may be useful for those preserving some Google+ content. This is a very novice quick HOWTO. Point your browser to https://webrecorder.io Enter the URL you want to capture. This can be any Google+ URL, including Profiles, Collections, Communities, or * Search Terms I'm trying this right now the "SignalFlare" hashtag to capture any mentions of that which aren't already in the G+MM community. Click the "Start" button. On the new screen, under the "kebab" menu (three vertical dots), upper-right, select "turn on autoscroll". This will scroll to the end of the visible content of the page you're trying to capture. Let this run. When the autoscroll stops, you've got all the available content.
