tl;dr Stop just complaining about MeWe, it's not productive , instead be sure to also start recommending something other than MeWe that works better. (edited the tl;dr: I don't mind complaints if they're used productively to point people to other places that work better. Complaining just because you can isn't productive to the people trying to figure out where to go, not where not to go) Ok community, let's play a game. People have split opinions about MeWe. Those that seem to like it like it for the familiarity of the system, the way it works, and the fact that it feels "complete"... ish anyway. It's a bareable... or really, so far, the only substantial replacement for G+, especially for communities. ( edit : that I know of ... which is where I'd like to be enlightened as well) Now the people who dislike it, and there's enough of them with legitimate concerns that are really vocal about it on every post about MeWe ... instead of yet agai...

While I know the community mods are advocating the use of F+ME as the preferred tool for migrating, I think it's really important to also use Google Takeout, whenever it becomes usable/stable/etc, to preserve your data. All these new networks still working on coming online will then have a standard formatted json file to uses as an import base, which undoubtedly will be valuable information to help those networks get immediately filled with content. As much as it sucks that Google doesn't understand the value of Google+, the value of our data, for the last 7 years, is still worth it for other people to do some fun things with it that could be interesting. But that's only if you have it, and that's a time limited offer to get it before April 2.

Looks like MeWe will be offering an import tool using the Google Takeout downloads. A little skimpy on details, but at least it something to look forward to provided you're able get your takeout downloaded. Hopefully this means they can spend some time nicely building the tool instead of rushing to build something against the APIs that will be dead soon. Migration survey. Feel free to answer some or all. Are you going to take out your data? (via takeout or F+ME or some other tool) ... to archive it for keepsake ... to republish it on another site ... another social network ... your own self hosted blog/site/network ... have you been successful at getting your data (if so, which methods) Are you going to delete your data on G+ ... if so, why? Are you moving to a social network ... you already used alongside G+ ... or something new (which one?) ... or starting something self hosting Any more interesting questions to ask?

So given the accelerated timeline, looks like it's time to make choices. Where are you going? Where would you ideally go if it was complete/ready/functional/more popular? Where is your community going? And seeing that notifications for posts seem to be broken, and quite frankly, I doubt it'll be fixed, we might be talking to a wall for a while. Personally, I've been on Twitter and newly introduced to Pluspora and MeWe, so I'll use those. I'm moving a community I run to MeWe, just because of the tools, but ideally I would have loved Disapora as a solution... but it's just not good at all for communities. I would love to see how Hubzilla turns out, but have yet to try it out.

Just a mental note, just because a social network allows for anything to be posted without restriction, it doesn't mean that it values freedom or has any particular righteous cause to throw off oppressively censored networks. And in the same manner, those networks that help to keep some amount of decorum, are not necessarily overlords wanting to control everything in sight. Let's see how the comments go...

Minds.com Just as a FYI, I'm not usually the type to block people, but I've never had to block more people/posts than I have on Minds. That boost feature is one of the worst things I've seen in any social network. It's beyond annoying and far worse than any inline ads you may see in facebook or twitter (since those are probably at least held to a specific quality).
