It is possible, but Google+ will continue to exist for G Suite users, so Google won't be doing anything to the consumer version that would compromise the G Suite version. And they will be fixing problems that affect G Suite users.

Yes, google said about a month ago it will be a staged shutdown starting on the 7th of march. The functionality and interaction with other google products will be withdrawn over the coming final month.
Short answer: Yes and no. Assumption is always risky, esp. with Google. I do, however, see and envision some disruptions, glitches, and "tuning". I think John Skeats nails it. They'll hack away on schedule but meanwhile take care to keep their gem , G Suite, shiny & functional. You can already see that focus in the new destinations in the browser "waffle"/tic-tac-toe widget next to the white space that was "Mr. Jingles" /"notification bell. It now has shortcuts specifically to G Suite features.
