Final Notice!?

Final Notice!?

The widget warning has now come and gone, along with the widget.
Next stop, planned oblivion. (Yes, plenty of notice, sure....)

The image here is what shows as of today when you (manually) check the notifications panel, at least on Chrome/desktop. Seems pretty final!

Google+, anyone watching will have noticed, is (finally) "like a ghost town" with very few posts - to what end, other than goodbyes and signal flares? For sure most in this community have long made, re-made, and laid plans, taken out, set up, whatever... maybe breathing easier at surviving to see another life, but...

Sad. Disappointing. Infuriating. Perplexing. You name it. Thanks, Google!

The countdown clock shows 18 days and 2 hours - not that I'd expect a switch to flip at a precise time and poof!
It's been a nice run, could've should've been thriving still. Into the future.

Many fun times here... Hopefully the voice of so many of us will bring our new communities some of the changes we'd like, that we take for granted "here".

Forward.

  1. oops... it's everywhere now! On top of this "main page" view too. Sigh... "Condemned by Google" sign. :(

  2. I've just seen this as well.

Your Google+ account is going away April 2, 2019. Downloading your Google+ content may take time, so get started before March 31, 2019.

  3. Exactly what I just commented on, elsewhere:
".... which sort of implies that after April 2nd it won't be possible to takeout data any more (?) As usual, clear as mud!"

  4. Michael Fenichel Google will start deleting G+ right after they shut out down. If you wait too long, Google may delete your stuff before you get a chance to back it up.

  5. Good lord, it is piercingly sad to read your words. I've been...& on some level...persist in being...in denial. And there are few more demoralizing experiences than realizing you have taken something precious for granted. Cannot yet get my head around MeWe. In 18 days I will be unmoored...& abandoned. Not very good at handling those experiences gracefully.

  6. Michael-David ARR Kerns Me too. Every time I log in to MeWe I feel frustrated by the UI and my level of disgust grows rapidly. The best feature of MeWe is the relief I feel as soon as I log out. TNQ

Haha ha! I know, I despise it as well.
It's damn awful and all those silly emojis mean I just can't take me or it serious.

  8. Rudy Flower 😀🐜👍🦠❤️😗😊😆 lol. Me too. For years I was content with the humble and parcimonious use of :)

"What am I going to do with these keeeds?"

  9. Be nice if their Going Away message also reminded people to put a notice in their profile of where they move to, if anywhere.
I must remember to do that myself. When I finally up and go somewhere.
