ReplyDeleteAnd you know for certain that it had nothing to do with Article 13 which makes Google responsible for all user copyright violations and so effectively requires that every single posting be actively matched against a huge database of copyright material?

Walter Roberson I'm just saying that a lot of people have been emotionally shattered by this decision. Personally, I'm struggling with it. I'm spread thin trying to keep up with people I've become close to.
ReplyDeleteThere are days I'm ready to say fuck social media altogether because it's too much.
I give a flying fuck about Google and their problems. I hate to say it, but maybe they should've taken lessons from farcebook. They have some kind of leak or legal problem every week, but they're still around. One of the main reasons you'll never see me there.
Walter Roberson According to your logic, they'd also have to shut down Google Docs, Sheets, Youtube, Gmail, Sites, Blogger, et cetera. Also, even if they predicted the passage of C 13 (now 17), why do they not shutter their other assorted user content contribution sites?
ReplyDeleteExcellent, thanks, Jeff Diver

ppl like myself are upset for sure. opened this account in 2012. I joined MEWE and it was not for me.. every profile, page and group had chat...Guys were looking to pick up women...sorry...I was there in September for 3 weeks and closed it ..where will I go? No where at time. No site has proved it is better and safe than any other new forum. Sometimes it is better to let things go, That is what I am doing.. Collecting emails for G plus friends and will stay in touch...the rest is too much marketing for my liking...Pick this one. no this one.. in time I will see what ending up working..
ReplyDeleteBrenda Rebel Angel I think a lot of us have been disgusted by these developments, as per Heather Hult, and are in "wait and see" mode. We've been spoiled by our largely good experience on Google+. Nothing else quite fits.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad some are recognizing that there is an emotional side to this! Obviously, in the case of G+ customer satisfaction was overwhelmed by other Google priorities.
Jeff Diver the only reason I'm anyplace else is to keep up with my family and friends, and hope that something better than mewe or the sporas comes along.
ReplyDeleteBrenda Rebel Angel take a look at youme.social - membership is sparse at present, but the site is the most G+ish I've seen, and their antisocial behaviour squashing is rapid and efficient.
ReplyDeleteOpenbook alpha reminds me of the early days of g+
ReplyDeleteBrenda Rebel Angel It takes time to get to know MeWe. They are forever making changes to the platform to accommodate it's members. I went there in October and there is a big difference. You are correct about some of the unpleasantness, but once you learn how to get over the walls, there are very friendly groups and you can shut off the chats in your settings. There were porn bots that started showing up and people were bugging out, but somehow, MeWe found a way to rid off them.It took them about 3 weeks. At first I was not sure about MeWe, but now I am getting to know how to filter any junk out and it is much better.
