They do tracking and banneding and shadow banneding, read their TOS.
ReplyDeleteThey also charge $5 a month for storage, only 8gb is free.
ReplyDeleteSay no to walled gardens!
ReplyDeleteChar G Thats true , a major downside there, have to delete some posts when you reach it but you can do a lot of posts for 8gb first... otherwise its alright.
ReplyDeleteI cannot access the posts without creating an account. This is the reason I do not use, or have an account, on MeWe. The link you provide just points to the page to create an account on MeWe. I cannot force all my friends to have an account on MeWe just to see what I post.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Antonio Candido. What's the point of creating a link here if I or anyone else without a MeWe account can't even access it.
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly what I mean MeWe is just a walled garden!
ReplyDeleteI should have done more research before posting this but I saw my friend Derek Ross on MeWe and trust his judgment regarding the site. Now I am rethinking my decision to join.
ReplyDeleteHonestly though, I decided to delete my MeWe account after reading this from the founder. I don't agree with continuously bashing other sites to make your own site look better, better to use the energy to make your site better and people will figure it out on their own, and removing the search so Apple couldn't use it to look for restricted content is just childish. Couple that with the prices and it's not the place for me.

plus.google.com - Why the MeWe App is/was missing from the Apple Store, quoted from the MeWe CE...
Char G Ragestation 8gb is certainly not a downside. I created seven groups in January and posted heavily in them, plus five others and also to my profile. Still have 7.94 of space left without deleting junk. It appears that the space will last for years even by doing nothing. Having that much storage without paying for it with cash or my privacy is amazing.
ReplyDeleteThe downside to MeWe is"growing pains." MeWe had planned for the G+ shutdown in August as Google had announced. When Google went back on its word by moving shutdown up to April, everyone( including MeWe) went into convulsions and were caught off-guard with inadequate staff and equipment. Expect some glitches over the next few months. Hopefully, a reduction from 8gb of free storage will not be one of them.
Cyrill Kunze Yes, MeWe is a walled garden. Walled off from the undesirables. Fortunately, interactivity among members is up.
ReplyDeleteMembers, group owners and group administrators have tools to combat verminous types.
If one is unhappy, simply delete a connection, group or the entire membership and move on.
John Wickham I'm glad that it works for you, but unfortunately it would not work for me, I have 2 wallpaper collections. Cheers 👍
ReplyDeleteJohn Wickham Granted we have posted a bit & it has hardly impacted on the 8gb but heard today that a friend has depleted hers with a music collection in 8 weeks which is a cause for concern. We plan to post a lot of links to our YouTube channel and band promotion just hoping this will not mean that there is a finite lifespan to or activity there before exhausting the 8gb. This is the concern. Those from G+ are naturally unaccustomed to such a limit being imposed. Good news what you say here anyway & thanks for easing concerns somewhat.
ReplyDeleteRagestation Char G Get your concerns. At some point you would probably have to download some things. A time consuming PITA.
ReplyDeleteWow! The amount of anti MeWe FUD in these comments is stunning.
ReplyDeletePeople need to ignore this nonsense and go look for themselves.
Ignoring MeWe means you'll miss thousands and thousands of plussers who are going or already there.
On top of that the official "Google Plus Refugees" group on MeWe is on of a very few places to go post Google Plus apocalypse to meet up with others and leave a #Signalflare even if you don't intend on making MeWe your primary post Plus home.

plus.google.com - Don't miss the MeWe tidal wave! For people that don't think MeWe is one of, ...
I'm going to mute this post, I've had my say. Cheers all ✌️
ReplyDeleteSo long as you understand the implications of what MeWe does and doesn't offer, I think it's fine to at least use it enough to try it out for your own benefit.
ReplyDeleteThere's a lot of knee jerk fear reaction to something that is tightly controlled by a company, seems to be pretty walled off, and harbors some unsavory characters, which to some extent is true, but as with anywhere else, it really all depends on how you use it, and how you decide you want to be associated with it.
Don't let people scare you away from at least doing enough to form your own opinion.
Christopher Gaul Mewe is false advertasing the website. It lie about being privacy, it is awful for music and image uploaders. The only thing it does offer is just a plan simple soical media without posting anything but text.
ReplyDeleteI've yet to hear any facts in this thread. Just bs from haters with no explanations for their hate.
ReplyDeleteChildish nonsense from people that made a different choice so they want to trash anyone that made a different choice.
I'd like to point out that we're talking about migration options to replace Google Plus. Anyone using Google Plus and then questioning MeWe's ethics or business practices is a laughable idiot.
As much as we loved Google Plus, that love was 90% due to what the users created on the platform and not the platform itself. Google themselves are a terrible company and getting worse daily. Their lack of ethics, spying, censorship, tracking, and outright selling their customers and their personal data is among the worst in the industry.
In that light, complaining about MeWe is laughable.
Christopher Gaul Look in their TOS Mewe is tracking, spying and lying to you. They legally can not lie in their TOS.
ReplyDeleteTo be honest in G+ I've met the most insufferable know-it-all type of people that looking everyone else under their noses. Their despising cocky arrogant attitude about everything from photography to social media was simply stomach rumbling. I don't think I need it all over again in my life so saying "no thanks" to #MeWe.
ReplyDelete+Christopher Gaul Blocking someone and thinking they didn't see your message is not a good way to prove your ponit. Also again the TOS says it does track you, it is a real legal thing. A chrome extension called Exodis Privacy also backs up the claim of them using trackers.

it's OK there, but i'm on MeWe for the last 6 months now...
ReplyDeleteif you don't like the chats popping up, you can block them,
group owning and members is cool and also many friends in no time :)
keep your same profile name as on G+ so (ex G+) people can find you and you can find them easily!
cheers everybody :)
Adding to what Jb Addams says, use the same profile picture and delete other profiles. Many of us will decline a connection unless a there is a positive identification.
