The G+ Migration Blog, derived from this community's posts, is now current through the morning of 18 March. [ https://gplusmigration.blogspot.com/ ] Use the menu under the "hamburger" to find your post in the archive or labels. A comment form is also there in the event you would like to communicate with me.
After G+ I may spend some time editing the blog. Comments should still be open on the posts, so you can continue a discussion on Blogger. If you subscribe using your email, you will receive a notice in the event of a new post.

Jeff Diver We've noticed that the "more posts" link only reveals one more post at a time. Is there some way to get an index listing of, say, 10-100 posts at a time appearing? Otherwise the interface is of limited use.
ReplyDeletePeggy K ^^ that is a setting that Jeff can change?
ReplyDeleteEdward Morbius meanwhile via the hamburger you get long lists with archive by month, or labels.

ReplyDeleteEdward Morbius Thanks for your suggestion! I have changed the layout so that the most recent 10 posts appear on the opening page and thereafter, when "more posts" is clicked they appear 10 at a time in chronological order. I have also added a "back to top" button.
ReplyDeleteAs Diana Studer points out, the quickest way to review a large quantity of previous posts for most people is not by using the "more posts" option but by using the selection "Archive" under the "hamburger" on small screens (three horizontal lines in the upper right of the home page for those not familiar with "hamburger") or in the right sidebar on your wide screen.
To find posts they have written, members can look for their name in "Labels" under the "hamburger" icon or use the search feature. Edward Morbius, I am not sure how useful the Labels will be for you, as your name seems to be connected as Owner to posts which others have made and on which you have not commented. Archive or Search might be your better option.
The "Labels" were placed there by the software and have not been edited. One of their odd characteristics is that they index by first name rather than last.
More suggestions are welcome! They can be made here (I plan to be on G+ until the end) or by using the comment form, once again under the "hamburger" icon.
Thanks, Diana Studer, for helping to explain these features. Peggy K has been most helpful, too and I look forward to any additional advice she may have for us.
Jeff Diver i tried now for days to use the free version of the Export. There is no way to get it working. Nearly each day there was an update. Today it was the first time, that i had success, as it seemed first, that i succesfully had managed to get out one chosen part. The datas i had received were aweful: only a folder for each post, in that folder 2 other folders. All of them just named in 2 letters or numbers, so one has to click 3 times to open 1 PHOTO. Impossible. I had written them because of the problems regarding the last days and with Tor interrupting and also google refuse to accept. But it was not of much help. I just got the advice to download the latest update! which i had said them, that i got it already.
ReplyDeleteSurely i won't take the payed version if the free one is not working at all.
So it looks like labels were created for post authors, community labels and maybe hashtags? I think i would use a Pages gadget in the Layout to add navigation at the top, maybe linking to the most important labels.
ReplyDeleteNaturpunkt by Gina M. Sorry to hear you are having problems with Exporter!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure why it is working so well for me. I'm using version 1.8.1 with Tor disabled while Exporter is downloading. I chose the paid option. Alois Bělaška advises users to expect frequent updates because the Google+ platform is disintegrating a little bit every day. I am exporting to Blogger format, then importing the files to Blogger. Below is a screen that shows the various Exporter options. Blogger is the only one I understand. As you say, the downloaded files are assigned meaningless names, but these can be changed before saving (wish I had thought of that sooner).
Have you tried using Google Takeout? It might work better for you. The directions are here: [ https://support.google.com/plus/answer/1045788?hl=en ]

Jeff Diver thank you for the screenshot which shows me, that i was right regarding the free version which has not that options to take to blogger etc. Yes i took datas with the takeout, naked photos or also i tried the JSON instead of .html. But taking out in JSON means, that afterwards the text and photo files are separate. To put them together with a program is no option for me. it would take me a month sitting at the computer. Thank you Jeff
ReplyDeleteNaturpunkt by Gina M. If you just want to be able to browse on your own computer, you can use Google Takeout in HTML format. The HTML files can be opened in any web browser for viewing.
ReplyDeletePeggy K i took out both versions in example parts. i had hoped, that one or the other would show in the photo information the added text. With html there is no photo information at all. Thank you Peggy!
