If you're reading this and don't know.... "Welcome to Google+, enjoy your stay."

For anyone still here, who has lived in this wonderful community over the past 8 years, trusting that "don't be evil" Google would never callously or malevolently disrupt the way of life and vitality of its own community - much less destroy it altogether, with ever-decreasing notice and ever-increasing collateral damage, such as wiping out years of lives & data.

The widget is going-going-gone, maybe by the time this is read, if it is read. The site is still up and - for the fist time in 8 years "they" are right - it's a ghost town!

    Ooh! Some others still here in the ghost town! (Site still up, eh). Seems the rules are: YMMV, and "location, location". In NY I have the red bell (chrome, PC/Mac) and still get emails. New notices (these) are coming in to both notifications widget on 'puter and to iPhone G+ app. Watching & waiting... (feels morbid, a bit, but...)

    It's still daylight in the Americas, morning in Hawaii, 23:58 on the G+ functionality sunset clock. Sunset already in the East. tick-tick-tick

    Widget's gone, but you can still use the Notifications button on the left-hand side of the screen to check on any updates.

    On my PC, the upper Notifications icon is gone as of this morning, but the one at the bottom of the sidebar menu works just fine. Same on my mobile devices. Entirely expected. And nothing has happened to the comment box on posts.

    That's the story! Widget is gone but the notifications panel still displays new notifications - AND I've gotten email notices too.
    This may be the status quo "until the end" when the infrastructure and data get torched and disconnected, not necessarily in that order.

    I'm now trying to stop instinctively looking upper right (browser) to see if there are notifications. No bell now, only a waffle - which BTW, has some new destinations, like "My Business" !! (sneaky)

    Meanwhile, I notice that the left-side notifications panel lights up red with new notifications. So it's still.... "working". Widgetless.

    (Reminds me of Monty Python's Fight scene - "it's just a scratch")

    British Bob OK, me too... now! Either a monumental delay or detour! I wonder if reloading the browser "fixed" that quickly on Gerhard's end, as it did for me. Or... the notification (to me) arrived before the post (lag to me). Well, we're past the stage of widget-watching for the most part, into "bug" and quirk watching, then the death watch I guess. Will try not to shake the wires. ;)

    The widget is gone. Of course, FWIW, you can still get Notifications here on what's left of G+, in the left-hand column under "Notifications." But I always enjoyed checking them out when I'd be on Google Search doing something else!
