Don't be evil? Or don't let people find out you're evil?
This article reinforces my feeling that Google+ lost a valuable asset and fighter for its users, when Yonatan Zunger left Google+ as its Chief Architect and later on left Google completely.

Holy moly!

Our own Yonatan Zunger has words.

I think I'm going to be pulling further back from google products.

  1. China has a nasty habit of IP theft. So I don't think it'd be a stretch to say China is using Google to build a search engine and kick them to the curb later. This is just the business reason for not working with China.

Then there is the moral issue of human rights violations that may be committed because of this censored and monitored search engine.

  2. John Chvatal it’s not a question of “may”, it’s a 99.99% “will”.

  3. In life, I trust people until they give me reason not to. So, it is now becoming increasingly obvious that Google is not worthy of my trust, or my belief in the company's values. I increasingly feel I have to get away from Google and its control and influences.

  4. I feel this kind of information is important when it comes to choosing a replacement for Google+.
People might for instance want to reconsider migrating their content to other platforms provided by Google, such as Blogger, based on Google's decisions regarding Project Dragonfly. Roy Gardiner's comment is a good example of that imho.
For instance the secrecy surrounding the project doesn't bode well for similar privacy issues of other projects within Google.
Not to mention the moral/ethical issues involved in providing services (and servers) to a human-rights-neglecting and privacy-invading country such as China.
