Google seems to be taking steps to unify the Profile display across other apps. So the data and content in your "aboutme" is displayed consistently. G+ is just one of the properties getting this change. Suggesting that this display will continue. This hasn't really migrated across yet to Android Contacts although they look somewhat similar.
