When we consider new homes, where social capital is generally quite low - where we don't know anyone and they don't know us; we have to anticipate that the process of creating the happy place we have had on G+ will not come overnight. I have tried to kick around some reasons for that in the linked wordpress posting.

some thoughts on how communities bank "goodwill" and how this might affect social networks. I think G+ has no measure of the social capital present here. Value which will be largely destroyed.
