I think the analysis is quite devastating.

I think the analysis is quite devastating. Apparently the users in the big pods have not come out of the zombie status after the shutdown announcement from Google+. And a serious growth of the accounts is not really seen. The decline in user numbers would be even more serious without Pluspora which obscures the view ... 👀

  1. I was a user of the joindiaspora pod since before G+ . A few months ago they decided my ID no longer matched my password; without any remedy option.

Hence when it started I created an account on pluspora . And up to now I'm rather happy there.

  2. I'd not say "devastating" . We might just be observing the slow or less slow death of FB-type of social networks. As we did and do observe the slow death of web forums, and blogs. As we did observe the death of gophers.

  3. Heinrich C. Kuhn I'm happy on Pluspora, too. But as an active "nerd" I miss communities and so I migrated to MeWe too in October. Both alternatives are really fascinating. I'm only a bit frustrated about the development on Disapora ...

I don't think so. We here in Google+ are fretting, but we are mere noise compared to FB, Twitter, etc.

    What's a good analogy....

We are arguing over the seating arrangements on a life raft, while HMS Zuckerstan steams on obliviously.

  5. John Douglas Porter HMS Zuckerstan will meet his own iceberg someday. I hope so.

  6. Peter Kassau-Schmook he already did. Facebook is no longer cool, not used by the upcoming kids, and getting squeezed politically and legally as more and more dirt keeps showing up.

It's a slow leak not a titanic iceberg but it's going down

  7. I've an account on diaspora but not really used it. What's the difference certain between that and pluspora?

  8. Andy Lane pluspora is just one of the diaspora nodes that was mostly set up for google+ escapees.

  9. Alan Cox No really. It's only coincidence. Thierry and di Cleverly startet the new pod Pluspora earlier than Googles announcement came ...

  10. José Pedro Paula But you have to see the different dimensions of the development. Sry, but the importance of Hubzilla and Friendica in the Fediverse is quiet low, when you look to the number of users. They don't have the resources to become a new planet for the Gplusrefugee-Community ...

  11. José Pedro Paula I think the federal system of Diaspora inspires to get accounts on 2 or more pods. Some friends do in this way. That's one of the problems when we try to analyse the reach.
