Just to announce the migration of my 3 communities to MeWe. Hope some will join. It would be nice if you share this with your contacts interested in Science in general, Physics or Artificial Intelligence / Machine and Deep Learning. Thanks.

MeWe Migration

Hi, after some time of testing and not finding a perfect new home, I’ve decided to give MeWe an opportunity.
I’m the member who posts more, so I guess everyone was waiting for me to decide.
That doesn’t mean others can try to start a fork on other social networks.

I hope you all come and contribute with your posts or even moderating the groups. The aim is to keep the same philosophy of heavy moderation to avoid spamming, self promotion, abuse, poor quality or repeated content, off topic/controversial/pseudoscience, religion, politics, memes, etc.

At the beginning all members will be limited so a moderator has to approve new memberships and posts. After that members will be upgraded to contributors. If you can help, ask for being an administrator.

I’ve exported all the contents of the current communities and hope to import it when MeWe releases its new importing tool. In the meantime I’ll try to post in G+ and MeWe.

I’ve decided to create only one group in MeWe for both "Physics (moderated)” and "Science Minded (moderated)” that will be called “Science Minded”:
https://mewe.com/join/scienceminded

For my "AI Machine & Deep Learning (moderated)” community, the new group is “AI Machine & Deep Learning”:

  1. MeWe is a poor choice of social network, unless you don't mind being a human shield for the hate groups they solicit and protect as "free speech."

  2. Greg X as I said our communities will be tightly moderated, as we do now in G+ so that is not going to happen.
It’s more work for the moderators but the results are worthy.

  3. Greg X for example G+ is plagued with porn and spam, but not in our communities. In G+ we had several moderators in different time zones. Hope to find similar collaborators in MeWe.

  4. Sebastian Fernandez Alberdi Tight moderation cannot address the fact that MeWe is also intentionally adding and keeping hate groups on its network. That is what makes you and your groups into "human shields," whether the hate groups transgress on your groups directly or not.

  5. Greg X at least we’ll keep that people out of our groups

  6. Sebastian Fernandez Alberdi Meaning... As long as you don't have to see it, you have no objection to your presence protecting and supporting it?

  7. MeWe Social Network is a good choice. It's up to you watching "porn". Freedom first. I never buy what I don't like. Don't label anyone, just for a change!

  8. Greg X while I'm not a fan of MeWe myself, I do feel that your way of raising awareness of MeWe's issues is starting to cross the lines of being a zealous crusade against MeWe and risks being hostile to people for their choices.
I would suggest you respect their choices when it becomes clear someone has already made up their mind, rather than continuing to try to make your point.

  9. Filip H.F. Slagter What else is available to do, at this point? And are you suggesting that "made up their mind" is more important than pointing out to them that they're supporting and protecting hate groups?

  10. and if Greg 'respects their choices' someone is silently suffering from the hate groups.
All that is needed for evil to prevail, is for good people, to do nothing.

  11. Greg X How dumb are you? Don't you know how to block or ignore what you dislike? 😂😂😂

  12. George Pendarbes Does covering your eyes make a hate group go away? What a powerful strategy! I wonder why it wasn't used in WW2, or more recently, on the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville? (And that's before we even approach the "MeWe won't remove them when reported, and makes reporting difficult" issue.)
