Thank you for all the suggestions offered by this group.

Thank you for all the suggestions offered by this group. I really appreciate it. I signed up for tests accounts on many of them. I've decided to go with Tumblr.

I'll put a link to my profile so any of my friends in this group can follow me if they want to. The rest of you can have a look if you want to to see how I've got my account setup. The posts are old, and a couple of the links to categories don't have anything posted to them yet. https://stevemaclellan.tumblr.com

  1. I recently opened a Tumblir account and think it is more like g+ and well superior than the dismal mewe. I can't take myself serious on mewe, it's like Emoji land.

  2. I tried MeWe too and decided it wasn't for me. Another thing I like about Tumblr is you can allow visitors to your profile to submit their own post.

For example, it someone submitted a post on my profile and tagged it #environment — then when someone visited my profile and clicked the 'environment' link at the top of my profile, it would load all the posts tagged environment.

I guess, in this way, it's kinda' like forming a community if you wanted to. I've got that option removed right now, until I learn more about the Tumblr user base.

  3. We've been nurtured in a relationship for a while, and all was fine, even had a little one, or two, then came the divorce papers, with no chance of custody.

  4. Has the tumblr drama as of late (in the news) died down any?

    There's been drama?
I'm unaware I'm new to it.
Mind you, every website forum posting has been hit with a range of issues.

  6. Rudy Flower I think up until this year, Tumblr was being over run by people posting porn. Least that’s what what I heard. Then Tumblr decided to clean up and put the porno accounts on notice.

I think it’s all cleaned up now, but then I’m new. I haven’t seen any porn on there yet.

  7. Rudy Flower yeah, it was a few months back regarding deleting a bunch of accounts for content. I'm sure you can still look for it. Didn't Verizon buy tumblr?

It might still be worth a look though...

I haven't either but I'm new there also.
G+ has been inundated with porn the last few months, it's been horrible!

  9. Brad Borland I heard something about that, but then also heard it was owned by Yahoo. I really don't know.

  10. Steve MacLellan That's what I heard too. But really, I don't have any idea.

  11. Steve MacLellan Verizon Media brought it and when Apple remove it for sexual content Tumblr banned porn like contnt which then everyone left. So now it is basicly Youtube with images, Tumblr robots are really bad what is consider sexual

  12. I'm not really into video, even on news sites. Most times I can scan an article and get what I want out of it in a minute or two, rather than waste 5-10 minutes watching someone read it to me.

That being said, my interests are in environmental issues and politics, mostly. I didn't start looking for people on Tumblr, who share my interests, until late last night, but I've already found a few. I think it will be a a positive experience.

  13. Just be careful with Tumblr. A photo of a bare finger will get you in trouble.

  14. Tumblr is doing some ridiculous banning of images including a landscape of trees which I did.

  15. However, the ban sparked an uproar among erotic artists and sex workers who had been promoting their projects on Tumblr. As a result, many had no choice but to leave the site and try other, lesser-known platforms, such as Mastodon and Pillowfort.

It didn't help that Tumblr's attempts to block adult content ensnared many legitimate blogs that were free of porn. To enforce the ban, the platform used computer algorithms that sometimes struggled to distinguish porn from pictures of dogs, Jesus, and superheroes.

  16. Steve MacLellan i had a landscape drawing deemed unsuitable : a few trees and the ground.

  17. That's unfortunate. I'm getting close to my first month on Tumblr. I've made 218 posts. There hasn't been any problems.
