You should be aware of imposters stealing Christopher Gaul's ideas and copycatting the official Google Plus Refugee group on MeWe.

I hope this community's owners, moderators, or even some of the members are not part of this?

  1. So the group is run by Google? That's the only way it could be official.

  2. There's nothing "official" about it, it might have been the first, but people are free to set up their own groups. They're not trying to be someone else or impinging on copyright.

  3. The problem with MeWe is they allow groups with multiple same names, which can cause a lot of mischief, especially trying to move groups from G+ to MeWe. They'd goto MeWe and find a group with the same name, and find out it's NOT their homies group.

It's going to cause a lot of problems, more so with name sitters. A group won't even be listed in the group search unless there's 10 people in the group, too. So the owner can't just go there and make a group and coordinate it's design and all that starter stuff BEFORE people come. Since they're no public links but to the group itself, forget linking the group's welcome post to transfers, too.

  4. The only way to coordinate users to end up at the same places "safely" would be if there are links and posts made by the owners/admins here that actively endorse other groups outside of here.
Everything else should be considered scammy/copycatting.

  5. Yup, this happened to my group too. Someone copied my group name and original tagline, purposely confusing people. Don't get me started on MeWe. I detest the platform right now. Just posted about how evil they are, after experiencing it first hand.

  6. Wait, so there's some kind of limit on who can create a refugee group now? 😕

  7. That's some amusing trolling... "official" refugees? lol!

  8. Jill H Hopefully there's a home with much of the features G+ had. I'm getting too bored and getting grumpier by the day as the G+ death date nears. Ugh!

G+ had some great "battles" without the "please stop!" and run to moderators junk, especially on news topics. Crave debates on "meaty" topics.

  9. Kevyne Kicklighter Have you had a look at any of the other platforms?
