The Google+ self-disassembly is going into full-swing.
Today I got notified that the Notification Widget is going away on March, 7th.
This means we'll have to manually visit each community/followed person to see updates.
The clear intent is to kill discussion another month earlier.
Thank you Google
PS: For something that's supposed to be a ghost town, it sure is taking a lot of effort to stop.

Source?
ReplyDeleteDefinitely for the browser, but nowhere says anything about the app.
ReplyDeletePhạm Chung Hiếu it's been news for over a week.
ReplyDeleteIt's partially true Jose Pina Coelho but doesn't mean you won't get notifications at all.
ReplyDeleteThe notification widget under the bell in your Google account is going away - this is not actually a part of G+ (if you look at the bottom of that drop down, it also includes notifications from Google Photos, and presumably at one time was going to be expanded to include notifications from other Google apps).
However, you will still get notifications at https://plus.google.com/notifications, you can choose to enable notifications in your browser, and you will still get notifications via the mobile app, and your device's notification shade.
Also, the Notifications Page should still work. It is just the notifications on the OGB that are going away. I haven’t used the Notifications widget in years.
ReplyDeletehttps://plus.google.com/notifications is the notifications page 😉
ReplyDeleteJulie Wills Yup. We were typing at the same time.
ReplyDeleteJulie Wills one of the things I really appreciated about G+ was that I had the ability to look at the bell icon and see a clear message, like "you have 7 items", instead of allowing it to yell for my attention via push notifications.
ReplyDeleteJose Pina Coelho Well then yes, you'll have to live with that for 3 weeks or so.
ReplyDeletePhạm Chung Hiếu the source is a black banner on the pulldown of the notification widget.
ReplyDeletePhạm Chung Hiếu support.google.com - Manage your notifications - Google Account Help
ReplyDeleteThere still is an URL for notifications.
ReplyDeleteThe one that is one the very botto.lm of the widget.
Julie Wills Thanks for the information, we really appreciate your help. Would you like mod status?
ReplyDeleteJohn Lewis Thanks for the vote of confidence, but I'm not sure I would contribute any more with mod status than without, unless you feel it would be beneficial.
ReplyDeleteThe green circle around my profile pic denotes that I am a G+ PE, for those who understand it.
There is the notification bell on the left sidebar.
ReplyDeleteAs already mentioned by others Jeanne Hannigan
ReplyDeleteJulie Wills Welcome to being a mod.
