A Searchable List of Sites & Platforms, from ActivityPub to ZeroNet

Currently 113 terms listed, most will have at least one post under them. Any submissions matching on terms will turn up in results.

For those who are looking for a semi-organised repository of references, this is a first cut.

Keep in mind that the Plexodus subreddit will survive the close of G+. Discussion there is durable. At best partial Internet Archives snapshots can be made of discussions here.

Happy Boxing Day!

  2. Edward Morbius It's coming to that time where we have an off site meeting place to continue investigation, encourage discussion and let everyone know where they can meetup.

We've create such as space on fb, but realize yours, and many others distaste for the site in general.

This doesn't discount our mutual helping and we'll welcome understanding your future goals on social media as well.

  3. Edward Morbius Yep, that's the one.

We aren't a technical site, simply a spot for Plussers to meetup and keep informed.

You are the go to site for any number of issues, now, but needing to verify the future of such an endeavor for us all.

My point is, we all keep in touch and work in unison to continue discussion, education and so on.
This including recent up to date information,. buy also including non technical, and simply a discussion forum for issues of ex plussers and so on.

I find it important no matter where G+ refugees end up, we have readily accessible options on social media.

I knew nothing of offerings a few months ago. I still know little, but realize with the G+ Migration, our Google Plus Meetup, we are creating the foundation for the future of social media for those that wish to learn, educate, and discuss.

Meaning...my hope we can work together and keep up the great work you've started here.

  4. al m It's a poorly kept secret that I'm trying to build something that will be of use to future efforts. The first monthly Plexodus report noted that we'd started from an absolutely dead stop, and put together what we have now since then. There've been some resources, but depressingly little, and I've had to make up way too much of this shit on my own in the meantime. (I don't particularly mind, but I really wish there was more to go on, and I'd like to have resources other than me to point to.)

The biggest issue I have with the FB group is that it's not at all accessible from the outside. The #PlexdusReddit and #PlexodusWiki are visible to anyone -- no account needed. The Wiki can be edited by anyone (there are spam protections in place, and we may change that, it's mostly worked out so far). As information resources, that's a useful characteristic to have.

Can you toggle the FB group to be publicly visible, or create a page with summary information that is? That'd be a big help.

As for the past few months: I've learned a lot more about online space and options than I did at the beginning of October. So there's that. And the project's played into my interest in online media and media generally.

  5. Edward Morbius Firstly, thank you for all the great value you have provided so far in informing non-techies like me. I have been on a steep learning curve ever since I joined this Mass Migration community.

Thus far I haven't even considered how I am going to keep on being informed once Google+ closes. So I was pleased to see in your comment above that #PlexodusWiki is then going to be a means of further informing people like me.

  6. Edward Morbius Hey, thanks for the update. I hear ya with your efforts. You've simply gone above and beyond with helping. Extremely helpful to me and others. And, yep, there's probably not a lot of info organized out there, so I'm pretty happy you are involved and leading...though thankless it may seem at times.

I'm not sure fb offers accessibility to groups if one doesn't have a fb profile, but I'll check into it and get back to you.
Julian Bond seems proficient with fb, maybe he can help us here?

For those that do want to access the group with a fb profile, it's a public group accessible by anyone. It'll stay this way unless we get a lot of troll/spam. We'll go to ask to join in that case.

Have you set something up where people can list who they are, where they are going, what their coms are, where they are setting up and so on?
I was going to do that for our group, but if a more widely accessible option exists, then we may just piggy back and include it with our permanent Doc we plan to create for the group. It just seems rational to do this.

Our permanent Doc would also include your #PlexdusReddit and #PlexodusWiki along with other information useful for refugees.

The plan with the Doc for our group is to build and expand it as time goes by and new info becomes relevant.

The group is also just an all around meetup and place to continue our social media discussion.

The door is always open for you there, as you well know by this point. Please tell me if you create a sockpuppet or something for fb group purposes.
It's important for me, and many others, to keep tabs on you as someone who knows the social media space, and especially someone who is active with educating, categorizing and organizing. I wouldn't be doing my job if I didn't keep attempting to recruit you in some way :)
    So...don't disappear :)

Anyway, here's the latest version of its description

    Google Plus Meetup
Created as a place to connect, share, ask questions, discuss, learn, and eventually catalogue important social media information...such as where coms will end up, what's happening in the social media space, what social site members migrate to etc.
It was created on Facebook to ensure the longevity of the group. It will continue to exist Indefinitely to discuss social media in general and get constant feedback on the various sites and offerings through time.
We highly suggest even when the G+ migration is complete, members continue to visit the community as an all in one gathering place and information center.
