Can we just stop with the posts complaining about how Google does care about us and all of the middle finger pictures? It's fine to be upset about the change that is coming. However, the way it's being presented here just comes across as petulant. We're losing G+ because Google didn't know what to do with it and there weren't enough users to justify the time necessary to upkeep and continual improvement. So it's going away. This happens.

ReplyDeleteThe thing is, there was the users and activity to keep it going. Google just didn't want to keep it going because they can't profit off us anymore due to us not really sharing our personal information for them to sell, which is how they got their funding.
ReplyDeleteAlex It's not about having users. It's about having enough users to justify paying for something. The joke about the G+ ghost town wasn't funny to those of us who were regular users, but compared to other sites it really wasn't enough. Google indulged us for a good long time, longer than so many of us had expected. They've now reached a point where it doesn't make enough sense to them to keep it going. It's their prerogative, and it's their money.

Alex I think they've collected all the personal data from our posts for whatever they wanted. It just wasn't worth while anymore since they found much better and more personal ways to collect data: Google Assistant.
