A brief PSA regarding 'Archive incomplete' errors on Google Data Takeout
Since I see many posts about people just trying over and over by requesting a new archive from Google Data Takeout (https://takeout.google.com), in the hopes it will get rid of the "Archive Incomplete" error, and getting frustrated when it still shows up, I thought I'd share my advice on it.

It's not necessarily as bad as it sounds
Just because it says it's incomplete, doesn't mean that it's couldn't find half your content. In my case, it's (consistently the same) two files that couldn't be included, and they are both actually the same video!

Inside your archive is a list of files that Google Data Takeout failed to retrieve!
While it's mentioned in expanded section of the list of archives on #GDT, I have a feeling most people don't expand that section, and thus haven't noticed:
Inside your archive, in the Takeout directory, is an index.html webpage document that includes a list of all the files that #GoogleDataTakeout failed to retrieve. Each of the listed files is actually a link that points to where Google hosts the files, meaning you can manually download the missing files to make your archive more complete.
While it might in some cases take a while for the download to start (it's likely getting the files from long term storage), they usually do actually work.

Likely won't go away
While GDT suggests to try requesting the archive again later, it's likely some of these errors won't go away at all. My archives have consistently not included these two files, and I'm not really expecting them to suddenly include them the next time. There's probably some broken reference, or something in the file path that's preventing GDT from including them. However, as long as I can just manually download them, and it's only a couple of files, I'm personally not bothered by it.

In conclusion
So, when you see that dreadful red exclamation mark and the 'Archive Incomplete' error, remember that it's likely not as bad as it sounds. Just download the archive, open it, and have a look at the index.html file inside it to see what exactly is missing and try to manually download the files.
If it's a very long list of files however, consider sending Feedback to the Google Data Takeout team; they've proven to actually be fixing things that have been reported!

  1. Well, trying to export stream data, it basically only includes my posts' photos, nothing else ... that is a bit more incomplete ;-)

  2. How about the more straightforward "Sits at 0% forever" issue - has anyone found a way around that?

  3. Greg X is that from a recent export (after the Jan 30th announcement), or from an older attempt? There have been some recent improvements to the archive size and creation duration recently, so if it's from an older attempt, I would suggest you try again.
If it's more recent, then you could try with a subset of the data first, for instance only the Posts sub-item of the Google+ Stream item.
