Is there an alternative to the communities anywhere else? I have run my community here for almost a decade and I cant find anything that has walls, privacy, and where photos display EXIF information to help us with doing photo reviews.

Some of the G+ photo communities and projects I participate in are migrating to Flickr. Flickr communities can be invitation-only or open - it's all in how you set them up; you can make EXIF info visible or not, as you choose. Now that they've been purchased from Yahoo by SmugMug, things are looking solid for future longevity. While they limit free accounts to 1000 images, an annual account with unlimited high-resolution storage is well worth the price at $49.99 a year.
ReplyDeleteOthers are setting up their own photoblogs and running communities through them, or moving to FaceBook (not my first choice for great photo display, but fine for social engagement with friends, including many G+ photographers).
LinkedIn, Minds and MeWe have groups, which are another name for communities.

Es ist für Foto und Kunst aller Art sehr geeignet!!
Wenn du es über PC/Laptop nutzt, hat es sehr umfangreiche Möglichkeiten...
Wenn du es über Smartphone/Tablet nutzt, sind die Möglichkeiten etwas Abgespeckt...
Nach etwas Eingewöhnung bieten beide Zugangsarten ihre jeweiligen Vorzüge!!!
Wenn man es über PC/Laptop verwendet und ein Übersetzung Programm in den Browser einbettet, dann soll man auch auf Flickr die Sprachen übersetzen können!!
Ich konnte diesen Tipp von Flickr Freunden nicht prüfen, denn mit dem Tablet funktioniert es leider nicht.

Die Gruppen dort, sind Community's hier...
Favorisieren [der kleine Stern], sind die "+" hier...
Du kannst dein eigenes Foto in Gruppen und Alben teilen. Es belastet deine eigene Stückzahl nicht, denn es gibt keine Kopien!!! ;)
Aber ich bin dennoch inzwischen sehr froh, dass ich das kostenlose Flickr Konto genommen habe. :)
Bryan Weiss There are multiple platforms with groups-based discussions, which can be public or private.
ReplyDeleteGroups.io, Reddit, and Plain Old Blogs can all be used this way off the top of my head.
One thing we've been meaning to do that's progressed far slower than I'd have liked is listing and classifying current social media options. Including offering dimensions of capabilities, e.g., "has groups".
Note that Reddit allows single images per post, but not photos within comments, at least not natively. This is actually one of my bigger gripes with the site.
I'd have to check Groups.io and numerous other options.

Edward Morbius lack of photos in comments was my biggest issue with early G+ too. So annoying. That’s one more X against Reddit then.

ReplyDeleteThe latter really should be the default UI.
Have a look at Lifecloud. It's still new and fresh so expect glitches. But the communities (groups) there look a lot like here, you can even create topics. And they are working on RSS feeds for public groups. The developers do answer to requests.
