It is absolutely amazing how posting something can clear the mind.

It is absolutely amazing how posting something can clear the mind.

Not all at once (which is surprising as my mind is not that large) but little by little.

Sooooooo.

Yesterday I dropped my thoughts on you and something weird happened.... My phone started making strange sounds within an hour or so.

Someone had +1'd my post!

Nothing too strange it happened before, except it kept going and then comments started coming in.

Then even weirder.....a couple of people followed me and I am thinking to myself that there are only 6 weeks or so left....Wtf?????????????????

I don't write for glory.

I write to share my lunacy and I hope someone else out there is as afflicted as I am and gets it.

As the day went on I stuck my tongue firmly in my cheek but reflected upon these events on and off.

I spent the day with my son (the Gavinator) and just left my brain (yes.... I do have one) in neutral as far as G+ was concerned.

Late in the day something surfaced.

I have deleted my newly born profile in Mewe after rumour reached me that this is maybe somewhere I don't want to be, something I don't want to be associated with and had the potential to compromise my personal situation.

Like Edward Morbius I have things I want and while some may go back down the social networking route, I've decided to take a step back and go "old school."

It is time to strap something to the table and wait for a storm.

I can't say that it will achieve every ambition I have, but it might and it is the simplest of ideas.

It's somewhat against the ideals of social media but I can get my madness out (who cares if anyone reads it) and I can control the direction without being bogged down with some of the more distasteful aspects of social media (racism etc.)

It's called a blog!

And you know? I can be social....... If others want to play and feel the same I can let them. If they need a space to express something.

So if someone here feels as I do and is looking out that the bleak post G+ social media landscape and deciding it's not for them....Reach out to me perhaps it's time for a different type of social media.

"You don't have to go home but you can't stay here." True enough! But maybe there's somewhere else because "home is where you go" when nobody else wants to play anymore.

  1. I started using LiveJournal way back when it was invite only, as I needed a way to purge my soul - and was able to save my writings back to Dreamwidth thanks to their thing. And yes, you're right - there is a way to do this, and it DOES help.

Here's a link to one of my better ones.https://silkensteel.dreamwidth.org/55860.html (I'm curious if it's public or logins only, It's fairly old.)

  2. It’s like a bomb went off and we’re still here, dazed, unsure where to exit. I’ve created logins for a number of platforms (including the dreadful MeWe that sends friend requests gushing to my inbox daily from people I’ve never heard of). The trouble with blogging is that there just isn’t time in the day to follow blogs of all the people I have enjoyed following here. I suppose this has been the perfect balance of the superficial interaction, with just enough real contact to feel we had built relationships.

  3. Mr. McNoname I will drop everyone a link when there is something other than a few bare bones to show.

As I said I want to do something a little different but it will be with the tongue so far in my cheek that it pokes out the other side!

Maybe a space where others can join in too?

I don't really care if what's up there offends (as long as it doesn't spread or espouse the various forms of "hatred" so common on the net.

What I will care about is whether it make the writer (and the readers) think!

Even if it doesn't change an opinion or a belief but just widens that opinion or belief.

it's not about censorship it's about challenge.

  5. Bryan Ruby Thank you.

I will post here when I've got something but you know? I'm not sure if I care if anyone reads it!
That's not to say I'm disinterested but it's more about purging the pus from the soul.

  6. I went blogger/newsreader as well to export my G+ and write longer thoughts. Feed readers are great for keeping up.
