We have been seeing a lot of new members joining this community since G+ named April 2nd as it's drop dead date.

For you new members we at LifeCloud ( https://www.lifecloud.site ) wanted to share our Google + Data Importer. It is a way for Community Owners to recreate and "rehydrate" your communities on LifeCloud and a way for individuals to migrate all your collections and posts.

For previous members who may have had trouble with an import in the past we have made significant improvements to the tool and we have been seeing more and more successful imports.

You can get to the G+ Data Importer here:

  1. I have tried this twice with a modest amount of content. I think. Fewer than 10k posts.

The first try got about 660 posts imported and then hung.

The next try got to 22 posts before crashing my browser.

  2. ❨❨❨David C. Frier❩❩❩It could have to do with the amount of memory (or lack thereof) on your computer. We have had imports of that scope work successfully. Even if that is the case we are working on an update that will potentially allow us to pull straight from your Google Drive so memory issues won't be a problem. You won't even have to upload it.

  3. My computer has 16G of which 11G is typically free, even with piggy Chrome as my browser.

  4. ❨❨❨David C. Frier❩❩❩ Hi... we can see that you have successfully imported over 3000 items:

    lifecloud.site - Kahomono - LifeCloud

and that you've attempted 2 imports that didn't fully run to completion.

The latest import was about 4 days ago which was BEFORE the latest major update we did to the data importer. If you try again now you may have better success.

If you're still getting out of memory issues then the next update we have planned may help your situation. In it we'll be pulling directly from your Google Drive so that the import happens only on the back-end and you don't have to download/upload any files.

Let us know if you're still having issues and we'll keep you in mind when we do our next update so that you can use the Google Drive option.

    Hope this helps.

  5. I will try again tonight.

How do I avoid making duplicate entries from multiple attempts?

  6. ❨❨❨David C. Frier❩❩❩ You won't have to worry about duplicates. The importer will skip any that already made the trip.
