Bugs, bugs, bugs!

With Poll Person still with us, we will surely last a very long time.

  1. Lol I doubt they have many ‘backup accounts’ on gsuite for when they will inevitably be banned for their usual behaviour! I lost count of how many accounts he used on the consumer version that got banned.

  2. Rupert their usual behavior of finding G+ bugs? That’s all they did to get banned

  3. Yep. Google paid poll a lump sum and told him not to find bugs. Really strange.

  4. If all they had done was report the bugs via the reporting system that paid rewards for finding such bugs, they’d have continued to be rewarded. Instead they preferred ‘fame & stardom’ and a reputation for ‘hacking’. Publicly sharing exploits that cause disruption/distress/spam is not something google reward, hence the account bans. Also, they did share various tips for users to ‘hack’ their own accounts, particularly in regard to exceeding the permitted name changes, that resulted in many suffering from glitches with their account and unexpected loss of data and contacts.

Perhaps they’ve maybe matured a little...

  5. To the best of my knowledge, the report form only accepts security-related submissions. They don't like to hear about the minor stuff. I submitted a pretty easy-bake method of accessing the old profile page through the events page and they ignored it because it was out of their scope. Beyond that, I can't really speak for him. I reckon he can do that if he wants. Poll Person

  6. There’s a big difference between exploiting sloppy coding of G+ to reveal an old user interface version and actual bugs or security issues.

  7. I'd like you to define a 'bug' for me and how exactly what I reported contradicts such a definition. A way to access the old interface was in demand at the time. They bothered getting rid of the many publicized methods, but plugged their ears to my private method. I didn't go public with that one even though it was very easy to do. They didn't have an incentive to do anything about it.
It seems like they were more concerned about optics than fixing sloppy code. Poll would remind me time and time again about how another bug I found, a bug that allows you to change hyperlink text autonomously, remained unpatched since I found it 2-4 years ago. It still exists. I don't think they care.

  8. Yeah everything I posted publicly were things they refused to patch when reported the proper way.

  9. The bugs Poll posted were extremely minor. None every compromised security or anything. Nothing wrong with that
