I've noticed something odd.

I've noticed something odd. I actually have three GSuite accounts -- my own domain, which is my default email and default account, plus two school email addresses, neither of which have G+ activated. For purposes of G+ then, I just have one account. But every time I'm in this account and follow a link within G+ it switches identities to my account with the high school where I volunteer.

For example, with Eli Fennell 's fantastic list of active post-'pocalypse Plussers, every link I click on goes to their profile as viewed by a non-Plus account, so to follow that person, I have to switch identities back to this one, and only then can I follow.

Weirdly, every time I do that, Google designates this account, the G+ enabled one, the one I'm logged into, as the default. So if it's the default, why is it switching away every time I follow a link? Makes no sense.

  1. You must have +Mentioned my Consumer account. It has a blurrier profile pic.

  2. Well, I think I fixed it, except for some reason it's looking like your name is crossed out. But whatever.

  3. Michael J. Coffey, the identical thing happens to me. Every time I click on url's from Eli Fennell's "circle" list, my Consumer GPlus account shows up, requiring me to manually switch accounts (just like you).

  4. Multi login has always been weird. Even though my primary login is this one, if I click on a link to a shared document or file in GDrive, it defaults to opening with a consumer account that I keep logged-in for legacy reasons, and I have to use the account switcher if I want to link the share to my Drive. Every time.

  5. I use two GSuite accounts (each with a different domain), both active with G+, but did not yet notice this.

  6. I also have multiple G Suite accounts. I solved this problem by creating multiple “People” in chrome, one for each of my identities (personal, Town, etc.). I then open a separate window for each of these chrome people which is logged into just one g Suite account. This also lets me have different sets of extensions active and different bookmarks. Since I switched to this model, all of the problems have disappeared.

  7. I think Brian Holt Hawthorne may have the 'answer' here, and the multi-account is being somewhat overruled by the default chrome account choosing which account to open the link in. Maybe those experiencing this issue can confirm this? I'm primarily using this account via mobile, and an incognito browser, so not experiencing it.

  8. I usually use a normal window for my primary account (this one) and incognito for my work account when I'm using my Chromebook.

On Windows, I just use different browsers for each.

  9. I haven't experimented, but I suspect that regardless of which account you're logged into for the apps, the thing that determines which identity is used for links may be the one you're signed into Chrome with.

  10. Oops! Just realised that was what Brian Holt Hawthorne had said above.

I was skimming comments too quickly, and missed both that comment and Rupert's reply.

(I'll go and sit on the naughty step for a while.)

  11. I've been noticing this as well. At least on Eli Fennell 's list. G+ is defaulting to my @gmail.com identity, not my GSuite one.
