Well, since we're in this situation now, let's get some stats on G+!

Obviously, which companies use which services for their core infrastructure, is actually public knowledge. So, a curiosity query that should turn up some results in the next 20 or so hours. Stay tuned~ :)

  1. GSuite is used mostly for business. And this category of users don't use Google+. And my suggestion is that at the moment we, the G Suite G+ users, are tiny minority. Of course this could change in time. Especially if some of the ex-users decide to come back here. I don't think that 5 $ per month for example is so high price if you really like Google+ as social platform. Yes, your posts will not get 200, 300 or 500 likes like before but is that the most important?

  2. Ezra Bridger : LOL, it seems like in the beginning of G+ in 2008: make cool Communities again and fill their content... 🤔

  3. Ezra Bridger Small companies generally don't use G+, but I've seen some information lately, that Google had some success with G+ as a means for larger organizations to get informed about what their various departments do, and basically, remove the internal walls within the larger organizations. So, I suppose that this use case, including various business uses of G+ is going to be the further focus of Google, when it comes to the development of G+. Imagine if larger organizations could move faster, like startups do. Probably that is the potential seen here.

  4. Mindey I agree. The point is what will be the future of us, people who use G Suite mainly as personal account. I am afraid that many of this group will stop considering the use of Google+ as worthwhile and they will leave it. I don't use G Suite for Google+, I use it mainly for the cloud service but I think that because of nostalgia some people have paid or will pay for G Suite account only because they do not want to say Goodbye to their favorite social app but in the process they will realize that Google+ as it was will be no more and they will leave. I hope that I am wrong and Google+ will only get bigger and bigger.

  5. Стела Стоянова I suppose they are personal profiles which are already deleted.

  6. The only reason I still have an account, is because I have a gratis grandfathered/legacy account from when Google Apps for Domains (as G Suite was called back then if my memory serves me well) was still a free service.
What made G+ so great, was that it had users of all walks of life. 6 USD/monthly might not be a lot to you, but for a lot of users who are scraping by, or for users in other parts of the world where monthly income is significantly lower, it's more than they can spend; as a result you're missing out on a diversity of content, and a different view on things.

  7. Filip H.F. Slagter Of course. The diversity is gone. There is no doubt. About the price - I also agree. For most of the westerners it's a ok to pay 4-6 $ but for the "third world" and most of the Asian and African countries, it's a thing and a big one.

  8. After viewing the video tried nslookup -query=mx and it wasn't using google servers.
Eventually remembered pointing them elsewhere years ago after getting the "Your inactive Google Apps account will close in 30 days" message, just in case I forgot to keep using it once a year to keep Google Apps alive.
    Two things.
Thanks for jogging the memory regarding the MX records. I'm getting gmail notifications on the GSuite account again.
While checking the MX records is a good indicator for stats it's not 100% accurate if you are wondering about a particular domain.
Looking forward to seeing the stats.

  9. [ 16 % ] 162310/1000000

It'll take time, but I promise to share the results when done. If anyone wants to do palatalized computing, go ahead, but I don't have too much time, so will just leave the task continue running, and share result when it's there. :)

  10. FWIW, my employer uses GSuite (I heard someone once say that we're the largest private corporate client for it, though I cannot vouch for such a claim). At work, we specifically use G+ to disseminate information internally (much like we formerly used work-oriented platforms like Yammer).

  11. [ 35 % ] ... In the mean time, you can check the top 10K, and how it looks like:
