I can just copy over what I do on MeWe, so, I'm going to do it anyways, but I'm also going to Share heavily to the Communities for now. But Public GSuite Communities are going to be removed, it's on the roadmap, so the only plausible hope after that is if we have Circled folks and can see each other's Posts. Then, Collections may really come in handy. If nothing else, I like how they look.
Poll Person Are you basing that on anything in their Product Roadmap, or is that speculaton? That would be important to know. I doubt that's true, though, because, as with many things about GSuite Google+, they're used internally by Googlers.
It says Public cross-domain ones owned by one GSuite user will continue but I doubt that is an indefinite reprieve.
The good thing is, I see no indication they're removing the standard Public option or restricting it to within domains (unless your organizational settings restrict it). So if we can Follow enough people, and if removing Circles just means removing the organizational capability and not the general ability to Follow... we might buy a bit of time.
Of course, this will be meaningless if we don't connect with enough people before Discovery becomes difficult.

I stopped to use Collections because the Communities are better to manage ;-)

ReplyDeleteI’m not sure. I’ll stick to communities until... well, depending on what Google does with all this.
ReplyDeleteI still have people followed in circles, mostly ingress related
ReplyDeleteConsidering collections will probably be removed soon there's not really much point

ReplyDeleteNo, looks like you're right: support.google.com - Important changes to Google+ for G Suite due to the consumer shutdown - G Suite Admin Help
ReplyDeleteWelp, public it is then,
ReplyDeleteHmm... that article actually does not say Public Communities will go away. Just that they have to one GSuite Owner at least.

Collections (and Circles, which Collections use for non-public audiences) are going to be phased out.

Collections
Last updated: April 2, 2019
Collections will continue to exist on April 2, 2019, but will start being phased out in the future.
G Suite users won’t be able to:
Create new collections. Any existing collections will remain.
Add content to a collection that is not domain-restricted.
G Suite users will still be able to:
Add content to a collection that is domain-restricted.
Delete internal and external collections that they own.

How do you make a public community now? Looks like the only options I have are "open within my domain" or "private within my domain."
ReplyDeleteNM.... figured it out :P
