Google+ Ghosttown: Hauntingly like Hiroshima
Walking the wasteland that is the #GooglePlus's #GhostTown, is hauntingly like walking through post-blast #Hiroshima: https://www.thesun.co.uk/archives/news/155844/the-shadows-of-hiroshima-haunting-imprints-of-people-killed-by-the-blast/
The occasional post reshared from a consumer account by a G Suite account before the #GooglePlusShutdown still showing the contents of the message, but their name is blanked out by asterisks. The mostly-empty communities left behind show that there was once a civilisation with many homes and gathering places here, but which are now desolate places with ghostly shadows left behind.
Google+ a ghost town? I guess it ended up being a self-fulfilling prophecy after all... :(

ReplyDeleteOh nooooo 😱
ReplyDeleteActually, larger. The number of casualties of Hiroshima and Nagasaki combined are on the order of 300K people. G+ had on the order of 300M of monthly active users. ( https://dustinstout.com/social-media-statistics/#google-plus-stats ).
ReplyDeleteMindey well, I wouldn't want to compare the actual casualties of Hiroshima to our virtual losses of Google Plus that way...
