Eli Fennell In that case you must politely ask one of your domain's admins to fix that for you. ;-) But anyone with their own (one-man) domain like +Ringo can easily fix that problem themselves.
Norbert Rittel Yeah, this is a State College system. They're not going to change that for little old me, and wouldn't even want to raise too much attention for concern that they'd further restrict us in some way.
It's been so long since I looked at the admin console that this option is news to me (it wasn't there a few years ago when domain restriction first became default).
Though now I know why G+ was kept around for G Suite (temporarily, in my prediction): last time I looked it was an optional service, not part of the core services. Now that it's in core services, they have to do a longer phase-out if they choose to kill it completely.
Todd Vierling Cloud Next '19 is next week. There Google will have to tell the audience how they plan to move forward with Google+ as part of G Suite. Either way we should have a much better basis for planning our future activities then.
Norbert Rittel Restricted mode is about whether the "within domain" toggle is on or off by default (but changeable by the user either way) when posting. Mine has been OFF for as long as I can remember (it's my own domain, so I've set all options to be as unrestricted as possible), but I still get the warning.
Maybe I'll try changing it to on, and then back off again.

Yep
ReplyDeleteSame here. Only does it from the app, luckily. Maybe they'll add a Setting for that?
ReplyDeleteThere may be even many domains... Should be an option for defaults.
ReplyDeleteYou can turn this warning off in the Admin Console for your domain:
ReplyDeletehttps://admin.google.com/AdminHome?#AppDetails:service=Google%2B
Go to Advanced Settings and turn off restricted mode.

(note that the preview below defaults to the region of my Google data center so this comes up in German here)

I'm not an Admin, so I'm sure I can't do this.

ReplyDeleteNorbert Rittel Works :) Super!
ReplyDeleteNorbert Rittel thanks! That has been bugging me!
ReplyDeleteAll fixed now, just gotta wait for it to kick in.

Yes. This is very annoying.
ReplyDeleteTodd Vierling Everythjng Google is temporary, but they are still adding features to G+, so I suspect it will be around a bit longer.
ReplyDeleteIt's only intrusive in the Android app. Both the iOS app and desktop have a passive warning.
ReplyDeleteIt must be at least 2 years since I raised that with G+ Googlers, both as feedback and in PE meetings with them ☹️☹️
