I continue to make inroads into other communities, encouraging them to look into ours. I am surprised we don't have more members yet. Do you think a lot of Google+ members are still unaware that the ship is doomed?

  1. I think many just don't care after they found themselves a new home. Just look at pluspora, a 'home' for 6k 'refugees' whom I believe are aware of the situation.

  2. Halfey Halphstein most just continue to post to the communities their in, a few did reply as if they didnt know. Shawn H Corey I know, just is a curiosity.

  3. William Johnston: first, thanks.

I don't know what drives or limits growth, though outreach and re-sharing of posts (and the community information) elsewhere should help.

My experience going through G+ communities is that few are particularly thriving. Many of the ones that are do seem to be making plans.

Some of those are quite large, though the active userbase seems fairly small. Getting hard numbers on G+ activity has always been a problem, and I'm still one of the better sources for estimates myself (I'd come up with the 4-6 million actively-posting profiles estimate based on a 50,000+ profile sample in January 2015).

  4. There are many posters who share on G+ but don’t really take much notice of what is going on other than comments on their posts, yet are still ‘Active Members’ which I think is where G+ and other social media have an issue with interaction with the users.

  5. In my communities no body bothers to read the rules section so why would they bother to read G+ is shutting down?

  7. William Johnston Simply reaching / messaging community mods is at best painful.

There appear to be two active G+ Mod communities:

"G+" Community Owners & Moderators - (PM to Join)
    19,798 members
    (unofficial)
    https://plus.google.com/communities/115287855840632692408

    Google+ Moderators
    1,021 members
    (official)
    https://plus.google.com/communities/104190940017258117231

Give that there are 7.9 million communities, and 57k with 1,000 or more members, this is likely at best a fraction of the mods / owner population. Still, it's a start.
