Google HTML is absolutely worthless.
The instructions don't make this clear, but you're going to see this advice repeated repeatedly and repetitiously. With great frequency. Repeatedly.

Why? Because the JSON format can be used by tools for extraction and import. Tim Berners-Lee is building one for Solid, there will be others.

ReplyDeleteThe warning makes it sound like it's urgent, but surely we have plenty of time, and even if you forget json, you can stil get the json later.
ReplyDeleteMartijn Vos Again: a lot of people need to know this. A lot of people don't know this. The concepts and implications are confusing and unclear to them. Google do an exceptionally poor job of offering reasonable or useful choices. Not knowing this when the time comes will create a great deal of pain and confusion. The word needs to get out, and needs to be clear.

Part of my audience are Google, who really fucking ought to know better. (And I'm sure someone on the Data Take Out team is aware of this and has been fighting this battler for a while, and I'm given them all the ammunition they need to make their case. Something I've heard happens from time to time. Though it may be slow.)
