Is there a reason groups.io is not on the alternatives spreadsheet?

Is there a reason groups.io is not on the alternatives spreadsheet? I would add it if I could get access. Might also add SimplyCircle which I think could work for some. Thanks.

  1. I'm sure the maintainer would be happy to see any details you can provide. Any relevant site omissions are almost certainly due purely to lack of knowledge.

  2. After the corruption of the last spreadsheet, I don’t think they’re going to be opening it up to anyone or everyone to edit/update it anytime soon.

  3. Great question! I'm a member of one group there, that they successfully imported from Yahoo Groups.

How this works for our purpose, I don't know.

  5. Mike Waters Thanks.

Thing about G+ is that it isn't just groups, or topics, or individuals, it's the set. And yeah, I'm aware that that's what's going away, but it makes it harder for ... well, anyone looking to move elsewhere to sort out what and how.

  6. Mike Waters, it's as if GPlus is like integrated software (ie: Microsoft Office). All the pieces work together and support each other. Sure we can move a group to a different platform, but it's starting all over again, and on our own. We're refugees in a new land.

Doesn't mean we won't survive and even thrive.
It just means though that, "There's no place like home."

  7. Scott Scowcroft An approach I'm looking at is some sort of hub or glue tool (or set of tools). Preferably one that can be bundled up easily for the masses.

One of the tricky parts is sorting out just what the pieces actually are.

  8. Scott Scowcroft I was mostly answering others' questions. I'm not moving anywhere right now.

  9. Peter Maranci: What's the policy/protcol for gaining edit access, and can that information be added to the spreadsheet?

  10. Pamela Conroy I'd be glad to give you editing access. I'll just need your e-mail address. You can send it to mine, which is my first initial and my last name with no space between them. It's a Gmail address.

  11. Edward Morbius At this point I don't have an official policy, beyond allowing edit access to anyone in this group who emails me and asks for it. I added that in large type at the bottom of the sheet. :D
