I didn't think this was a very good interview. But in his AMA on Reddit today he answered the questions that concerned me. Of course, these were expressions of intention to remedy the issues of external linkability and searchability in the future (2019 was mentioned), so everyone will have to decide for themselves how much they trust him
ReplyDeleteI for one would hate to put all my eggs in the MeWe basket, just on the chance that we get burned. I have been burned by internet CEOs too many times before. But I will admit that he did give the right answers, and if he follows through successfully MeWe just might be what many of us are looking for.
But I still wouldn't put all my eggs in that basket. In fact, it's never a good idea to keep all your eggs in any basket. Perhaps it would work to have two accounts, one on a centralized service and the other one on a *de*centralized service.
We'll see how MeWe works for now. But no offsite linking for a year is a real bummer, especially when using it as a collection style site. Blogger could be used instead, yet it looks like another free feature Google bought out, neglected and ready to be closed down, too.
