Starting to document the process of migrating my public post stream to diaspora*.
The plan is to process the takeout archive in Python and generate (somewhat) equivalent diaspora* posts using diaspy.

Does diaspora's api actually allow "backfilling" posts?
ReplyDeleteJakub Turski - no, I am planning to simply re-post with a note of the original date.
ReplyDeleteToo bad, that'd be a nice functionality.
ReplyDeleteBTW... I need to make an observation, somewhere...
ReplyDeleteMy experience with Takeout lately been an unhappy one. I have posts going back to 2013, maybe earlier... but Takeout only gives me stuff going back to early 2015. The Takeout process itself says there were "errors", but doesn't provide any useful information on the nature of those errors. ☹️
John Douglas Porter I suspect there are currently some capacity issues with G+ takeout, which should hopefully improve soon.
ReplyDeleteClosing the loop... this same post on Diaspora*: diasporing.ch - Starting to document the process of migrating my public post stream...
