  1. Taking longer now to get to a page. That buffering, swirly thing is ever present.

  3. Hey real-timers :))) In my orbits I'm also hitting some "not able to post" or "edit" hiccups and I think the "new" notifications left-side bell may have stopped popping up numbers - though it's pretty busy for a ghost town! Well, Europe and anyone East of there is theoretically setting up to watch the mythical switch pulling ceremony at midnight. Somewhere.

  4. IveMichael Fenichel I've tried countless apps, as a replacement, since the closure was first announced and most are simply poor quality.

Diaspora seems to be the only worthwhile one.

  5. Where am I? Half asleep, headed to 3/4... Ah, Google! Still here?
I can agree, and have often said, there is no (one) complete "replacement" without reconciling with those left behind, and having some old and new friends and a comfort zone with the "app" or tools or whatever. Diaspora has little bad I can say about it, beyond "it's not Google" in terms of "reach" and convenience. Or "audience". Or clout.

I also preach (did my doctorate research and 20+ years since) on "fit", and I know from my work and life that "different people like and want and need different things", plus feel differently about apps, emojis, chat, privacy, ease of family hookups, shopping, cats... etc. A perfect match. Or even similar. That's the best I think the Federation offers for many new arrivals, with different instances/pods offering some of the bells and whistles some want/need. Very good global mix of 100% human people, and I've already met some impressive users "there".

Anyway, crash & burn time for me. Maybe Google will still be up for part of my day tomorrow. Or it will be a ghost town. Usually I like them. This one should live. Maybe it's all an elaborate April Fool's Joke... Dream dream dream. Peace out, G plus!

  6. Think I will lurk until it closes. Been interesting as a foray in to this 'social' stuff and happy to confirm - did not really miss out on much by not being all that active =^^= Have joined up on retro computing and a few OS generics but an over arching collection? Was fun. Sort of. Care all.

  7. I'll probably get to PashPost eventually. Meanwhile, check out my blog or Instagram (the direct blog is better) - addresses on my home page. I'll also put the information in a "WheretoFind.me" page, as Edgar Brown suggests.

  9. Laura Ess Thanks for the report. So much for "big bang" at 00:00 sharp. But then it is still 11 hours until midnight beginning 2April in MountainView Time Zone, which some think is the key. Others see the screws coming out and pieces being torn out already. At least the clocks will all stop soon, the deathwatch, last goodbyes..

So life will go on, with new plantings and new life (it's just beginning spring in the Northern Hemisphere, so that metaphor works best "here"). Before long, people will pinch themselves and realize we're all still alive and seeing old & new, familiar & unfamiliar sights. Carpe diem.

Remember the good old days with fondness. We lived them.
