The Diaspora Pod Incubator Community has been launched at Google+ by Di Cleverly

She's the admin and owner of the Pluspora pod on the Diaspora federated network. That is home to over 6,000 migrating G+ users all within the past few weeks.

This is a group aimed at helping new Diaspora pods get up and running:

This community is set up to discuss the logistics of setting up Diaspora (D*) pods across the Google Plus community. We can share with you how we set up our successful pod.

You will need a working knowledge of Linux and a monthly budget of approx. $25-30 a month for virtual private cloud server access.

You need additional funds to register domain name (app. $8-12/year) and additional storage costs.

In addition, the thing that will raise costs is email. With a small pod, if you encourage people to turn off email, you should be ok with the free limit. With larger pods, you may need to shop around. The advantages to pod ownership are: * You control the data and the moderation. * You can interact with other pod members of Google Plus. * You can customize (ie, we just added emojis!).

You won't get fooled again!
