I’ll be checking out that one too. It appears to be a clone (or branch) off of livejournal. Since livejournal is now owned by Russian Putinistas, dreamwidth is a better option. You can even import your old livejournal content. Their principles doc is pretty good too. https://www.dreamwidth.org/legal/principles

  1. Dreamwidth very much is like LiveJournal; they split off and started working on building themselves right around the time that LJ was sold to the Russians.

I see you joined me over there! I look forward to all of us settling in and interconnecting there. ^_^

  3. Bliss Morgan Ooh! Ooh! Dreamwidth supports RSS, so I can use Feedly to check on Dreamwidth journals along with other blogs. RSS readers have come a long way since I stopped using them and switched to Google+. Now, how hard is it to comment...

  4. That wasn’t bad at all. I wonder if pluspora and MeWe support rss syndication.

  5. Dreamwidth was developed by a couple (who still run it on their own servers as a labor of love with occasional fundraisers when they need to upgrade equipment) as an alternative/replacement to LiveJournal after the Russian takeover sent subscribers scrambling like we are now. It's built to look and behave like LJ, which is to say "functional but not fancy." Similarities to G+ include the ability to post and respond, "friend" people, and form certain types of communities.

I haven't used my account there in some time, but last I checked they had nothing like Google Photos, although you can embed a (small) photo in an LJ post.

  6. I have zero problem with using my Tumblr account to host photos for hotlinking in my DW posts.
