In G+ communities there is only one pin and if there is an existing pinned post, it will be automatically unpinned by a new pin, so you need to consult with the owner. But yes, theoretically, mods and owners have the pin feature, like you do on your profile.
Martha Magenta ...wait - I'm not sure what you're talking about? I'm just referring to the list of categories you can post to in a community, that's been setup by the owner. As in, for Google Mass Migration, add to this list:
Martha Magenta ...the OP is asking to see user evaluations for each of the frontrunner candidate platforms. I'm just offering a suggestion to add these categories to the list we all see in my screenshot, when we make our posts about our user experiences:
Pat Johnston I see, but you can have a max. of 20 cats. - would there be enough? Nice idea though. we can search the comm for particular site evaluations.
Pat Johnston Matt Moore Can you private message me about this idea, I need to digest it a bit more. I do have a "master plan" and we are currently in the "investigation phase"... so what you're suggesting might be coming.
But I want to understand it fully and my attention on the weekends is on my kids since my wife passed. (As much as possible.)
Allison died in April. Some of you weren't in my circles or maybe the plus didn't prioritize the post. She is survived by myself and our three children (6, 10, 13 this month). Thank you all for your condolences.
This place helped me survive that. I owe the people here. That's part of my motivation.

ReplyDelete...or, create subcategories to capture review commentary for each of the front runner platforms?
ReplyDeletePat Johnston subcategories? G+ doesn't have subcategories.
ReplyDeleteMartha Magenta ...sorry - I just meant to create a set of categories under the community for a common purpose, something like:
ReplyDeleteApp Review Comments: MeWe
App Review Comments: Pluspora
etc...
Pat Johnston yes, the categories are a very useful feature of G+ - I wonder if other site have categories?
ReplyDeletesomeone posted a poll earlier, did you see that - members voting on options.
ReplyDeleteCategories
ReplyDelete• shouldn’t be changed in its meaning; older posts might not fit into the new category
• shouldn’t be deleted because all assigned posts are then also deleted
• too many categories are a disaster because members usually don’t choose the right one and it can’t be the task of mods to always recategorize
People who search for something should use the refined search Google added 2 weeks ago. It lets you set lots of options and is available under “Home”.
Thomas Unterstenhoefer It totally depends on the type of community and how the cats. function. mods can move posts to different cats. if necessary.
ReplyDeleteHere’s how SEARCH works

ReplyDeletePat Johnston link not found. I was talking generally and theoretically. I am not sure what the OP intended here.
ReplyDeleteThomas Unterstenhoefer ...for IOS. Do you happen to know where it is for Android? (can't find that advanced search screen anywhere)

ReplyDeletePat Johnston I looked on my Nokia 6.1 running Android Oreo 8.1 and can’t find it. Typically Google. Start a lot of stuff but don’t finish it.
ReplyDeletePat Johnston how does this relate to the OP's question?
ReplyDeleteThomas Unterstenhoefer ...I just learned a few days ago that G+ apparently has a set of SQL-like commands for use in Android's search:
ReplyDeleteTo find one of your older G+ posts, just type …
from:me before:YYYY-MM-DD
… into the search box, setting the date (YYYY-MM-DD) appropriately.
This date range format works, too:
from:me after:2018-09-11 before:2018-10-10
Pat Johnston It’s described in the link in the post I gave you.

ReplyDeleteMartha Magenta ...some room for 13, anyways. not sure there would be much more than half dozen or so. In any case, it's up to the community owners...
ReplyDeletePat Johnston why not suggest it?
ReplyDeleteMartha Magenta ...can do...
ReplyDeleteJohn Lewis ...a possible suggestion on how to cluster user feedback here?
Pat Johnston
ReplyDeleteMatt Moore

John Lewis Sorry to hear about your wife. You have scored a hit with this community. It's a great place to stop and sniff the wind.
ReplyDeleteJohn Lewis Oh gosh, my condolences :-(
