#diaspora hint.

#diaspora hint. If you go to the sidebar on the left and add #newhere as one of your followed tags, you'll see all of the new G+ refugees as they arrive.

  1. And remember to use uppercase letter to disambiguate. #NewHere vs. #NeWhere (which, obviously is funnier with the pen is mightier than....)

  2. It's a distributed social network that's getting a lot of G+ refugees. A popular "pod" (diaspora server) right now is https://pluspora.com

  3. Note that you cannot edit pluspora posts or comments after they're submitted, so you can't go add that hashtag later. The inability to edit stuff makes it an absolute no-go for me :(. That's fine for microblogging, but not for a central social media presence.

  5. How does diaspora work and why is it called pluspora?

  6. Schiwi M Pluspora is a "pod", or subset, of Diaspora, which is a tool, not a social medium in itself.

  8. Schiwi M diaspora is a group of servers called pods hosting social media platforms. Anyone can create their own pod. Pluspora is a diaspora pod created by some plussers for a new home now that Google+ is sunsetting.
Pods can talk to each other so you can follow people on other servers.

  9. Samuel Smith One correct, they created the diaspora pod "pluspora" before there was an announcement. It wasn't a reaction to the announcement.

I think this is important because of intent issues.

  10. John Lewis thanks for the correction. Looks like Pluspora has been active at least a month or so, maybe longer.
