I have got a homepage/blog, using WordPress, but I disabled comments because I didn't want to have to police them. Instead I pointed people to the corresponding G+ posts. I can no longer do that.
Thomas Mueller I moderate my blog comments. I like to show my commenters the courtesy of reading before I publish them. And I like to engage with them in gratitude for their time and effort. Closed comments tells me as a reader to move along there's nothing to see here Different strokes.
Once LJ decided they wanted their official TOS to be in Russian only, I transfered everything to Dreamwidth. It's a reasonable replacement IMO, and the only reason I can see people backing off it is "gosh isn't that OLD?"
blanche nonken LJ was closed-sourced, and for that reason, open source DW (dreamwidth.org) now exists. For example, mine looks like so mindey.dreamwidth.org, and it works exactly like LJ, except instead of /friends page there is /read page to read friends' posts.
New comments on this blog are moderated. If you do not have a Google identity, you are welcome to post anonymously. Your comments will appear here after they have been reviewed. Comments with vulgarity will be rejected.
I don't think it is so bad that we need to change planets.
