Here's a suggestion: Dreamwidth.

Here's a suggestion: Dreamwidth. I moved to this after being on LIVE JOURNAL for years. It's old tech - probably just better than MySpace - but it works.

  1. Oooh. That might be a good option. I liked LiveJournal, after all. And it has a similar post/comment interface to G+, with privacy settings.

  2. The trick is getting others to come with us.

  3. I love DreamWidth, yes, and I'm already there https://mindey.dreamwidth.org/, however, it would be so cool if it had shorted domain name, and supported images and videos.

  5. Isn't dreamwidth restrictive about its prospective authors?

  6. I'm also on Dreamwidth as silkensteel. Haven't used it a lot, mostly to read a handful of others, and a place to keep my LJ writings and recipes archived. I do think it's a reasonable replacement for G+, and have brought it up elsewhere.

  7. Is dreamwidth run by russia like livejournal wound up being? I can't remember, that was all a lot of drama that went down behind the scenes and then after I drifted away (adn I got a lifetime lj account, too!)

  8. Yow, my browneyedgirl65 account is still there...

  9. Cindy Brown no, and their transferring option got backlogged when LJ went full Red Bear from everyone transferring over. I expect if something doesn't change in the next 10ish months, I'll be using that more and more.

  10. Hm, transferring option? I do have a lot of old stuff on LJ it would be nice to save (though I think there was an export option at one point?)

  11. I still have a LiveJournal account, though I mostly lurked and commented. I'd probably create a new one for DreamWidth.
