VK is directly managed by the Russian government (it was "liberated" from the Telegram's founder's hands some time ago). In the "sell it to us or you'll taste Polonium Tea" style.
I distrust Facebook because I don't believe it behaves ethically in handling user data and making recommendations, but I do trust Facebook to behave in ways that it believes to maximise its profits.
As for VK, a Russian entity, I do not have even that trust. I believe it will actively behave in unprofitable and evil ways in service of maintaining power for Russia's regime.
So, I don't consider VK a suitable replacement, and I would recommend everybody lucky enough to live in Not-Russia to stay away from it.
Dima Pasechnik I have almost an empty account there with no information. I'll take your advice and close it but do they really delete my information? I've joined many years ago when it was belong to its creator to follow Russian folk music groups.
Lightofthemoon Ahweheyu VK is most certainly controlled by the Russian government (suffices to know how Durov was forced to sell it). Surely if you enjoy their propaganda and its results it's the right place for you :-)

ReplyDeleteVK is not evil. The US NSA government is intentionally smearing it because they cannot access nor control it ~
