I've always liked Google+ but, admittedly, was never sure what to do here. I do like that there are no ads and it isn't overrun with sponsored posts like other services. It also doesn't force us to look at a filtered feed based on an algorithm. But the masses have spoken and I guess they don't want this, even though G+ addresses many of the cons of other services. I think it was only a matter of time and, sadly, that time has come. :(
We're not the ones choosing to leave Google+. That's entirely Google's choice. Google+ could have been great. It was great. It arguably still is, but apparently it's not what Google wants.
ReplyDeleteG+ never had to be a dinosaur killer. It never had to take over top spot. I think that's a non-useful way to look at it.
ReplyDeleteGoogle + has plenty of users. No, it didn't take over the free website, yellow pages, advertising market that FB did. Nor the public outrage market that Twitter did.
Who cares?
At the beginning we had a lot of advertising posts, because g+ was expected to be the next big thing and companies hoped to attract new customers here.
