I am sharing some posts and links to the communities I am a part of. I am not sure if it will be flagged for spam...so I am spacing it out, but I encourage everyone to share and reshare something similar to this (in your own words if you wanted) to communities and members, encouraging them to start planning.

#googleplus is being #shutdown #august2019 after #google hid a #hack of #userdata. Many users are not aware of this shut down, and those who are are searching for new platforms. Those who are I encourage you to come to the #googleplusmassmigration community link below. I encourage you to start making plans to move your content and your social media presence on google NOW because if you think the influx of porn in your communities is bad now, just wait til mods and users start moving away in the next few months as they have.

I am sharing this here, and sharing it across communities. It might be flagged as spam, or not being relevant to the community guidelines or subjects but I don't care at this point. I encourage you to reshare, or contact as many people as you can.

Google+ is being abandoned, and Google is showing that it is as corrupt and #irresponsible a corporation as any has existed. We the users must take #responsibility and demand #justice and #internetacocuntability, but first I encourage you to do all you can before it gets any worse.

  1. I understand some people's desire to "migrate early". I would caution against this approach because it can lead you to an impulsive decision.

Here we are trying to accomplish a measured approach where first we investigate options, as a community, and then come to some consensus on what are best options and why.

Then we will help create tools for migration.

Jumping early will miss all of this.

  2. John Lewis Exactly. We need time to explore, compare and understand the implications of the other services out there, find out who among our G+ contacts are going where, and make reasoned choices. Each of us will likely have our own priorities - and our own deal-breakers. I really appreciate what you're doing toward this end.

Me, I'm making a personal list of features I must have in a new social network, features that would be nice to have, and features I can live without (or actively wish to avoid). And trying to find out everything I can about existing services so I don't wind up jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire.

  3. John Lewis Pat Kight My hope was to encourage people to come to the platform at the mass migration to discuss where and how, not encourage them to leave early. I apologize if I worded my intention poorly. Do you want me to remove this posting since I removed the other?

  4. As am amendment, I did alter this post to reflect a less "Leave now" attitude and more a "come help make your plans and help others" attitude. Reading back, I can see where that is a problem, my apologies.

  5. William Johnston No problem, thanks for clarifying.

  6. Pat Kight John Lewis Of course, my apologies for not being more clear, admittedly my anger at google outweighed some better sense.

  7. I'm not sure how this ended up classified in "Other G+ Exodus Community", I'm relocating this to "Discussion"
