I am using Minds because it gives an experience very much like Google+. Here's information on the use of hashtags in Minds. Minds does not require you use your real name when creating an account. My first name is Culture and my second name is Kat. Then I only needed to provide an email. I can share my posts with Twitter and Facebook.

Please read this blog for some information on the new updates to Minds.
The new hashtag system will make it much easier to discover content based on your interests, and it will allow you to filter your "top" feeds by hashtags. This will be a major improvement for helping to organize content, groups and channels and we plan on leveraging these tags in the future for better Boost targeting and more.
The new rate limit system is a direct response to the many complaints we have received about spam channels who are abusing the site's features for personal gain. This is just the first iteration of these limits, so please let us know if you feel they are too strict and are impacting innocent users.
If you find any bugs, please post them in the support group so we can fix them as soon as possible. I encourage everyone to tag their channel, groups and content moving forward for increased discoverability!

But it can be switched off by its owners anytime. As opposed to the decentralized systems like Friendica, Hubzilla, Diaspora, Mastodon ...
ReplyDeleteAwesome - waited for the hashtags game. I'd like to have it even more - not just filtering - but a subscription for specific hashtags - like for channels, etc. - just to have them in my general newsfeed.
ReplyDeleteIf everyone puts hashtags into their Minds posts, they can be found by others interested in the same hashtag. Hashtags also allow you to customize your Minds Newsfeed (like Google+ Home). See below.

Feels so dead to me ..
ReplyDeleteKathie Gifford thank you 👍☺️
ReplyDeletePlease also evaluate other alternatives. Pluspora looks promising to me. There are (too) many (social platform) fish in rhe sea. 😎
ReplyDeleteRon K Jeffries This is the time for gathering stones together.
ReplyDeleteRon K Jeffries Google+ users have to decide what functionality is their top priority. Some want to be able to access and export their content from anywhere on the web. Others, like me, need storage and don't want to incur fees later on. Some don't want to have to use their real name. Some are worried about sites selling their data. I just found out that not only does MeWe charge a monthly fee for data storage over 8 gigs, it also charges for its encrypted chat feature after a free trial. MeWe is like Facebook without the personal data mining but with fees.

Kathie Gifford Nice concerns summary. Snipping for the #PlexodusWiki.
ReplyDeleteHolger Jakobs "But it can be switched off by its owners anytime. As opposed to the decentralized systems like Friendica, Hubzilla, Diaspora, Mastodon ..."
ReplyDeleteActually, it's on a blockchain, is decentralized, and anyone can run a node. If the owners switch of their own nodes, no one else has to shut theirs down, like diaspora. To top it off, you get paid in crypto for participating.
